Valen returned to her chambers, her heart racing but her body completely weak.
"Valen...can you please remove your clothes so I can properly clean your wound," a young healer spoke, luckily she was a lady.
"I will only raise it slightly," she said calmly, her voice weak.
Valen raised part of her clothes slightly exposing the bloody side, she winced the moment breeze slightly grazed it.
The healer gasped a bit, "is it that bad?" Valen said calmly.
The healer nodded and went to her kit, "it is quite a deep wound and the medications will sting a bit."
"What's your name?" Valen asked abruptly.
"Umm...Georgia," the healer said softly.
"That's a weird name for your kind of people," Valen continued, biting the side of her lip to stop her from yelling out loudly.
Georgia chuckled softly, "my mother was a human but she died having me, so my father named me after her."
"I'm sorry..." Valen said calmly.
"Oh it's fine, I have already grown past it but at times I do wish I knew her."
Valen couldn't help but remember herself while growing up, she barely had her parents by her side but at least her case was quite different.
"I'm about to stitch your wound now so it's going to terribly sting," she handed Valen a cloth, "here you can bite this."
Valen nodded, taking the cloth and placing it in her mouth, she winced hard when she felt the needle pierce through her skin, the pain flowed through her veins like thunder bolts hitting her head every second.
In what felt like hours, she finally felt relieved, "I'm done," Georgia said calmly, packing her kit, "remember to stay away from water for a while so you wouldn't contaminate it also you need to come for another stitch after four days and please no vigorous activities."
Valen couldn't help but laugh softly, "all these rules for the King's bodyguard."
Georgia smiled softly, "at least take the most important rules, you can't protect the king if you are not well."
"You're a smart one..." Valen chuckled softly.
Georgia smiled, bowed and left Valen's chambers. Valen looked at her cloth and noticed she had truly lost a lot of blood.
She gently rose to her feet to get new clothes to wear and at least get herself a sponge bath, her body ached each second she moved her limb.
She took a cloth and dipped into a bowl of water and tried cleaning herself but couldn't, her body screamed when she tried to raise her hand.
"Shit..."
She took another breath and tried to defy the pain growling in her body.
"You really don't know when to take a break do you?"
Valen turned and saw King Kaelvryn standing at the corner of her door.
"Your Majesty..." she tried standing to greet, "don't..."
King Kaelvryn walked to her side and took the bowl that was close to her, "what are you trying to do..."
Kaelvryn ignored her, folding his sleeves, he dipped the cloth into the water and squeezed the water, Valen widened her eyes, if he did what she thought he was doing, he was going to found out.
The moment Kaelvryn tried to raise her cloth up, she stopped him immediately, "your Majesty...this is inappropriate."
King Kaelvryn looked at her and whisked her hand away from his wrist.
"If you touch me one more time, I cut your hands off," Kaelvryn warned.
Valen retreated her hands back, her heart was racing crazily, she couldn't breathe property but she still needed to be calm else King Kaelvryn would know she was hiding something.
Kaelvryn gently raised her clothes slightly and started cleaning her up slowly, avoiding the stitches, wiping her calmly, he did it so gently that for a moment Valen was confused.
Was this the same man in the throne room earlier?
"Tell me if it hurts..."
Valen nodded but was completely stunned on how his voice was so soft and calm.
King Kaelvryn continued the process calmly and gently making Valen heart to keep skipping beats.
Kaelvryn turned her gently to face him, "I need to clean your chest area, if that's fine by you."
"It...I...I mean I'll do it myself," she collected the cloth from him.
Kaelvryn nodded, stood and went a bit far from her and turned, "I won't turn back."
Valen was scared but she needed to clean that side of her body, one part of her wanted to trust the king but the other side knew better to make any mistakes.
Valen closed her eyes and quickly undid her clothes completely and cleaned herself completely, the pain stinging her crazily.
Once she was done, she got a new pair of clothes and wore it, not once did Kaelvryn turn, he stood so still that anyone would have mistaken him for a statue.
"You can turn now, your majesty," Valen cleared her throat, her face dropped to the floor and now her long hair was now dropping low on her shoulder.
King Kaelvryn turned and froze, the sight before him was incredible, he felt something he kept concealing for years.
"Why do you have such long hair?" He said calmly, "anyone could mistake you for a woman."
Valen hands became sweaty at the question but remained calm, "I have always loved long hair and my mother always wanted a daughter so she asked me to keep the length of my hair for her."
King Kaelvryn hummed, he went straight to Valen's bed and sat at the edge. "How are you feeling?"
The question took Valen by surprise, she wasn't used to King Kaelvryn being nice, in fact he was anything but that.
"I am getting better, with a good amount of rest, I'd be back on my feet."
Kaelvryn hummed, he turned his face and gazed out of the windows to the night sky, "you have a good view of the sky...lucky."
Now Valen was now completely confused, this was too different for her to handle but it was better that him showing his real side.
But this side could also be a side that has never be shown to anyone.
"Yes, your Majesty, the night view is very beautiful."
Kaelvryn turned and faced Valen again, "why are you staying so far from me? Come here, it's your room after all."
"Your Majesty..." Valen stopped herself before she spoke but at the same time she needed to say it.
"Pardon my unruly behavior but people would start talking the moment they find out that the king was in his personal bodyguard at night and we wouldn't want...rumors."
Kaelvryn tilted his head to the side and rose to his feet, he walked towards Valen with a calm look on his face but his eyes read something else.
She shouldn't have said anything, she cursed herself within her mind while hoping and praying that he doesn't over react.
The more he walked forward, the more she retreated her steps, his huge body hovering her, she was doomed, she could have closed her damn mouth shut but no she had to rush her stupid mouth now she was in trouble.
Valen was about to hit the corner of a wall when Kaelvryn drawed her closer to him, hitting him abruptly on his chest, her heart now was racing incredibly.
Kaelvryn leaned closely to her ear, his breath tickling her ear lobes, "let them think what they want to think."
Then he left.
