Synopsis
Li Chen lives an ordinary urban life, sharing a small apartment with his younger sister, Li Yueyin. To everyone else, she is the perfect girl—beautiful, polite, talented, and well-mannered. Only Li Chen knows the truth: at home, she is spoiled, selfish, and endlessly demanding. When Yueyin dreams of becoming a singer, Li Chen knows the entertainment industry is a cruel place where beauty alone is not enough—and where beautiful girls are often the first to be destroyed. Everything changes the night Li Chen awakens the Entertainment System. Main Mission: Turn your sister into the number one music superstar. The system grants him a beginner’s package: a debut song destined to go viral, a small amount of startup money, and subtle enhancements that make him look competent enough to survive as a manager. From that moment on, Li Chen is dragged into the dark underbelly of the industry—corrupt producers, predatory contracts, manufactured scandals, and ruthless competition. As Yueyin rises slowly through the ranks, Li Chen becomes her shield from the shadows. Along the way, he saves other struggling artists, each drawn to him for different reasons, forming bonds that blur the line between loyalty and desire. But buried in their past is a truth neither of them knows yet. A secret that will shatter the meaning of “family” and force Li Chen to confront feelings he was never supposed to have. In a world where fame is built on lies, only one rule matters: If he cannot protect her, the industry will consume her.

I used to think my life was painfully normal.

Too normal.

A cramped apartment in the city, a part-time job that barely paid the bills, university classes that felt more like a waiting room for adulthood than anything meaningful… and my little sister.

Li Yueyin.

To the outside world, she was perfect.

Beautiful, polite, well-mannered. The kind of girl teachers praised, neighbors adored, and parents compared their own children to. Whenever she smiled, people instinctively lowered their guard. Whenever she spoke, they listened.

At least, that's how she acted in front of them.

At home?

She was a disaster.

"Li Chen! Why is my breakfast cold?"

I glanced at the clock. Six thirty in the morning. I had woken up an hour earlier to make sure she had something to eat before school.

"It's been on the table for ten minutes," I replied calmly. "Of course it's cold."

She pouted, crossing her arms as she sat down anyway. Her long hair fell over her shoulders, smooth and shiny, framing a face so flawless it honestly felt unfair.

"Well, that's your fault. You should've timed it better."

I clenched my jaw.

This girl—this angel in public, demon in private—was my sister.

At least, that's what we both believed.

Yueyin took a bite, then frowned again. "Also, I don't like this brand of milk anymore."

"You liked it yesterday."

"I've grown since yesterday."

"…You grew overnight?"

She ignored me completely, scrolling through her phone while chewing slowly, legs swinging under the chair like she owned the place. Which, honestly, she kind of did. Our parents worked overseas most of the year, leaving me as the de facto guardian.

To everyone else, I was the lucky older brother.

Only I knew the truth.

Still… when I looked at her like this, sitting there half-asleep, sunlight spilling through the window and catching the soft curve of her face, I couldn't deny one thing.

Li Yueyin was very beautiful.

Not flashy. Not aggressive.

The kind of beauty that cameras loved.

The kind that opened doors before talent even had a chance.

And that, more than anything else, scared me.

"Brother."

She suddenly looked up, eyes shining in a way that instantly set off alarms in my head.

"I've decided something."

Every time she said that, my wallet cried.

"What now?"

"I want to become a singer."

I froze.

"…A what?"

"A singer. An idol. A superstar." She said it casually, as if she were talking about choosing a new outfit. "I don't want a normal job. I want to be famous."

I stared at her, searching for any sign that this was a joke.

There was none.

"You're serious?"

"Of course." She tilted her head, smiling sweetly. "With my looks, it should be easy, right?"

That was the most dangerous sentence she could've said.

"Yueyin," I said slowly, "do you have any idea how dirty the entertainment industry is?"

She waved her hand dismissively. "That's just something people say because they're jealous."

No. That's something people say because they've seen it up close.

Girls chewed up and discarded. Contracts that sold futures. Smiles bought with dignity.

And Yueyin—naive, selfish, pampered Yueyin—wanted to jump straight into that pit.

"I won't allow it," I said firmly.

Her expression changed instantly.

The spoiled mask dropped.

Her eyes narrowed. "You don't get to decide that."

"I'm not deciding for you. I'm protecting you."

She stood up, leaning over the table, face inches from mine. "You're just scared I'll leave you behind."

That one hurt.

She knew exactly where to strike.

"I'm your brother," I said quietly. "Of course I'm scared."

For a brief moment, something unreadable flashed through her eyes.

Then she scoffed, grabbed her bag, and walked to the door.

"I don't need your permission," she said coldly. "You'll help me anyway. You always do."

The door slammed shut.

The apartment fell silent.

That night, I couldn't sleep.

Her words kept replaying in my mind.

I want to be famous.

You'll help me anyway.

I stared at the ceiling, wondering where things had gone wrong—and when my role had changed from brother to something dangerously close to a shield.

Then it happened.

A sharp pain exploded behind my eyes.

I sat up, gasping, clutching my head as glowing blue text flooded my vision.

[Entertainment System initializing…][Host compatibility confirmed.]

"What the hell—?"

[System fusion complete.][Welcome, Host Li Chen.]

I froze.

This wasn't a dream. I could feel it—like another consciousness had settled into my mind, cold and precise.

[Main Mission Generated]Turn your sister into the number one music superstar.

"…You've got to be kidding me."

[Failure penalty: Unknown.]

My heart sank.

[Beginner Package available.]Do you wish to claim it?

I swallowed.

If this thing was real… if it truly knew about Yueyin…

"Claim it."

Information poured into my mind.

A song—complete melody, lyrics, arrangement. Simple, emotional, addictive. The kind of track that lingered in your head long after it ended.

Money followed. Not an absurd amount, but enough to breathe.

And then… me.

A warm sensation spread through my body. My posture straightened. My muscles relaxed into something more balanced. When I staggered to the bathroom and looked in the mirror, I barely recognized myself.

I was still me.

Just… better.

Sharper eyes. Cleaner features. Less invisible.

Not handsome enough to turn heads—but no longer someone people would overlook.

[Adjustment complete.]A manager must look competent.

I laughed bitterly.

"So you're planning this long-term."

[Of course.]

The screen shifted again.

[Warning:]Your target possesses high visual value.Risk of exploitation: EXTREME.

My chest tightened.

"So you really expect me to throw her into that world."

[Correction:]You will protect her while doing so.

I leaned against the sink, eyes closed.

Protect her… while making her famous.

What kind of joke was this system playing?

Yet deep down, I knew the truth.

If Yueyin entered the entertainment industry without me…

She wouldn't survive it.

I opened my eyes, staring at my reflection.

"…Fine."

If this system wanted a manager.

If the industry wanted prey.

Then I would become something worse.

"I'll do it," I said. "But on my terms."

[Mission accepted.]

Outside, the city lights flickered like a stage waiting for its first performer.

And somewhere out there, my sister was dreaming of becoming a star—completely unaware of the darkness waiting to embrace her.
