Breath of The Void

“It hums beneath your skin like a half-remembered lullaby, yet it can burn you hollow if you dare take too much.” They say the Gate does not open. It breathes. Once every heartbeat, the sky above the continent shudders, and a whisper rolls across the land—soft enough to almost be mistaken for wind, heavy enough to turn marrow to ice. That breath carries the Veyra… and with it, the monsters. I was six years old when I first heard it. I didn’t know it then, but every sound after has been a reminder: the world is not ours anymore. We just live in what’s left of it. Humanity clings to survival inside fortified strongholds scattered across a corrupted land. At the center of this chaos lies the Gate — a pulsing wound in reality that spills out both Veyra (a raw, living energy that can be harnessed) and the horrors it creates. The world’s defenders, called Veyrants, are trained in four main paths: • Weavers — elemental magic and sigil crafting. • Shapers — summoners of living constructs and bound creatures. • Voidtouched — warriors who infuse their own bodies with Veyra for unmatched speed and strength, at the risk of corruption. • Vitalis — healers, protectors, and ward-bearers who manipulate Veyra to mend and shield. ⸻ The Protagonist Kael Stormfell, a young Initiate Weaver. Kael’s raw potential is obvious, but he’s inexperienced — and more importantly, he believes strength comes from unity, not sheer power.
