Chapter 36 – Strings of the Queen 👑⚡
Keifer's POV
I'd seen enough last night.
The guards. The black car. The way Jay moved like she wasn't just Jay, but someone far more dangerous.
I waited until she slipped into an empty corridor before stepping in front of her.
"Cut the act, Jay." My voice was sharp.
She raised a brow, lips curving into that annoyingly smug smirk. "What act, Watson?"
"You think I don't see it? The way you sneak around, the guards, the… traps." I stepped closer. "What are you hiding from us? From me?"
Her chuckle was soft—mocking. "Oh Keifer, you make it sound like I'm leading some kind of double life."
My jaw clenched. "Are you?"
For a second, silence stretched between us. Her emerald eyes glimmered dangerously, but instead of confessing, she leaned in close, her lips near my ear.
"If I were," she whispered, "you'd already be in my palm without knowing."
Then she pulled back with a wink. 😏
Damn it. This girl was impossible.

Jay's POV
Keifer thought he was close to figuring me out. Cute. But he still had no idea how deep the rabbit hole went.
I was about to walk past him when my earpiece buzzed.
"Miss Mariano," one of my agents said quickly, "Kaizer's men spotted near the east wall of your school."
My smirk widened. "Perfect. Let's see how my little toys work."

Section E was outside in the field, laughing, playing around, totally unaware.
Then—boom! A smoke grenade rolled across the grass. Students screamed, teachers panicked.
From the shadows, masked men appeared, armed and moving fast.
"Stay behind me!" Angelo shouted, shielding Aries and Grace.
"Sh*t!" Felix cursed. "This is a legit attack!"
But before they could reach anyone—
⚡ BZZZT! The moment the intruders stepped on the field, hidden shockwave bombs exploded beneath their feet. Sparks flew, men screamed as electricity shot through their bodies, dropping them to the ground like ragdolls.
More tried rushing the main gate—only to get slammed by automatic barriers rising from the ground, trapping them inside like rats.
Students froze in shock.
"What the hell…?" Denzel muttered. "Who set this up?"

Keifer's POV
My eyes darted to Jay—calm, collected, arms crossed, smirking like a queen watching her pawns fall.
"This was you…" I whispered.
She didn't even deny it. Instead, she tilted her head, emerald eyes gleaming. "Told you, Watson. If I were hiding something… you'd never catch me."
And with that, she walked past me, leaving enemies twitching on the ground, Section E staring in disbelief, and me—utterly torn between fury and admiration.

The police sirens wailed in the distance, but before they arrived, a single masked figure still standing locked eyes with me.
He didn't run. He didn't fight. He just pointed—straight at Jay.
And then… he whispered one word before vanishing into the smoke:
"Mariano."
