Chapter 11 - a conflict

Roommate 2: "How can you be sure the para-athletes' dorm and the lobby have fewer creatures?"

Arjun: "I can't guarantee that… but I can guarantee that if we don't try anything, we'll die."

Ahmad: "I agree with him."

Roommate 2: "And where will you get a rope strong enough to take us down five floors?"

Arjun: "How many shirts and lowers do you have in your bag?"

Roommate 2: "…why are you randomly asking that now?"

Arjun – Just tell me.

Roommate 2 – Around three shirts, three lowers, two uniforms, and one sweater.

Arjun – Great. And you?

Ahmad – Not as much as him. Two uniforms, two shirts, and two lowers.

Arjun – Great. Take them out. I'm taking mine too.

Roommate 2 – But why?

Ahmad – I think he wants to sell them online, so when the delivery boy arrives, he'll get scared and inform the others outside.

Arjun – Wow. Without a phone I'm selling stuff? Just take them out.

(They take out all the clothes.)

Arjun – Great.

Roommate 2 – What are you doing?

Ahmad – Hey, come on. Don't you get it? He's making a rope out of the clothes.

Roommate 2 – Do you think your knots won't open at the wrong time? (crosses arms)

Arjun – Then you tell us.

Ahmad – Hey, you were in Scouts in primary school, right?

Roommate 2 – Yeah, why? (confused)

Ahmad – Then teach us that knot—the one that doesn't open. Use your skills somewhere.

Roommate 2 – I don't remember it properly.

Arjun – Just show us. We'll fix it. At least try.

(Roommate 2 sits down and tries to tie a lower and a shirt together using the special knot. After some twists and confused faces, he somehow manages to do it.)

Roommate 2 – OH! Oh! I did it! (happy) My brain is too good.

Ahmad – Great. Now teach us.

Roommate 2 – Look, take this and then… (he teaches them and they create a cloth rope)

Ahmad – Are you sure it's long enough for five floors?

Arjun – I've never calculated how much cloth is needed for a five-floor building.

Roommate 2 – I think we'll need to jump a few feet.

Ahmad – I also think it's short.

Arjun – What can we do? Do we have more cloth?

Roommate 2 – But the distance won't be much. We can jump without getting a sprain. We're trained.

Ahmad – I trust you two. So let's go.

Arjun – Wait. Take a bag of necessary items.

(Ahmad looks at him with disbelief.)

Ahmad – It's a small room with only us as useful items. All we can take is pens, break that glass, or break this table and use the parts as weapons. We have nothing. Not even snacks.

Roommate 2 – A water bottle… but half full. (he takes it out)

Arjun – As you wish. Break the table and bed.

Ahmad – Bed? We can't break this iron bed.

Arjun – If we manage to take the bolts out, we'll get a proper rod.

Ahmad – I'm breaking the table. You two handle the bed.

(He proceeds to throw the table on the floor aggressively. Within four to five throws and some kicks, it breaks. He takes all its legs.)

Roommate 2 – So how are we supposed to open the nuts?

Arjun – We don't need every leg. Find the weakest one by shaking the bolts.

Roommate 2 –( looking out of the window, worried ) "Hey… tell me something. Why are we risking our lives for a phone we don't even know works? Why don't we just run out with all our strength? Instead of entering the para-athletes' dorm, we can run along the wall, hide in the bushes, and escape."
