The disk we retrieved from Alpha Danvers's body sits like a loaded weapon on our dining room table. Warner arranged for his entire pack to witness whatever secrets it holds, determined to keep this completely off any network in case the killer decides to make another appearance.
"Knowles cannot know about this," Warner murmurs, glancing toward the stairs where Calista might overhear.
"The thought never entered my mind," I respond firmly. "What happens to his pack now?"
"His beta will maintain control temporarily until the designated heir makes their decision about the future."
"Since we're discussing futures, what are your intentions regarding this inheritance?" I press him.
"My intentions?" He appears genuinely surprised.
