Chapter 6 - Rustfang Mountain War (2)

Hours passed, and Gurk continued to walk alongside his teammates. Ultimately, the evening fell before they encountered anyone.

Gobnir was about to gather logs, but Pereuth hit him on the face

"No fire. This will give away our position", Pereuth growled

Gurk nodded. Smoke and light in the evening was obvious clues they did not want to give to their enemies.

Gurk replied: "What about this light, then? Enemies?"

Pereuth looked at Gurk's finger, barely lit by moonlight. After a few seconds, his eyes widened.

"You have good eyes. Gurk, is it? Gobnir praised your strength to Grunty. Seems like you have more than strength. If we survive the battle, I may consider making you one of my underling", Pereuth smirked.

Gurk nodded. His perk, Goblin Eyes, enhanced his eyesight to see in the darkness of the night. It also allowed him to see further than others. Had he wanted to, he could probably walk the path of a ranger.

As for Pereuth's promise, he could not care less about goblin politics. With the system, becoming a goblin warrior was only a matter of time.

[Mandatory Mission – Rustfang Mountains War (D)

The White Lion and the Fire wolf tribes have entered a state of war for the supremacy in the Rustfang Mountains. As such, the chieftain Grunty has drafted all goblins in the tribe capable of fighting to launch a surprise attack on Fire Wolf Goblin hunters, aiming at crippling their food supply.

Task: Assist Grunty in his campaign (0%)

Rewards: 200 EXP, Reputation with the White Lion Tribe, Reputation with Grunty, Reputation with the White Lion Spirit, White Lion Blessing

Optional Task: Kill 5 Fire Wolf Tribe Goblins (0 / 5)

Rewards: 200 EXP, Reputation with the White Lion Tribe, Reputation with Grunty, Reputation with the White Lion Spirit, Warrior Perk [E]]

The reason why he contributed was two-fold.

First, he needed the White Lion Tribe to survive, and cohabitation with the Fire Wolf Tribe was not a possibility. There was not enough resource to sustain two hostile goblin tribes. Over the years, it would just weaken both tribes. The other goblins in the dungeon might set their eyes on the Rustfang Mountains one day, and for that, the goblins needed to be united in one single tribe in this region.

The Blood Dagger Tribe, rumoured to have over one thousand goblins, was the biggest threat to Gurk.

Secondly, the mission's rewards were too big to pass. Besides the experience which would allow him to level up, perks were immensely beneficial. Sometimes, it would just give bonus attributes, but sometimes, it would be even more valuable. The only pity was its low rank, E. However, this was already better than nothing.

Aeruth and Tyreuth took out their small spears. Pereuth did the same, however it was obvious that his weapon, a big stone axe, was of higher quality. Gobnir and Gurk, silently drew their wooden sticks too.

[Aeruth – Lv. 4 Goblin]

[Tyreuth - Lv. 3 Goblin]

[Gobnir – Lv. 5 Goblin]

[Pereuth – Lv. 12 Goblin Warrior]

[Gurk – Lv. 6 Goblin]

Five goblins, ranging between Lv. 3 and Lv. 12, moved stealthily towards the source of light.

Gurk frowned upon seeing the goblins.

[Fire Tribe Goblin – Lv. 6 Goblin]

[Fire Tribe Goblin – Lv. 8 Goblin]

[Fire Tribe Goblin – Lv. 6 Goblin]

[Fire Tribe Goblin – Lv. 5 Goblin]

It was a small patrol of goblins. However, their levels were high. At least, much higher than the average goblin in the White Lion Tribe.

'This is not good…At this rate, this campaign might turn into a disaster for the White Lion Tribe', Gurk thought

Of course, there was no way for the other goblins to know of the level difference. He was the only one with a system. In fact, he might be the first goblin to ever have a system.

Pereuth was the first one to strike. He did not charge but instead threw his stone axe accurately.
