Chapter 28 - Chapter 28 His True Identity Was Actually

Chapter 28 His True Identity Was Actually…

Wenzhi rushed upstairs, found Room 1, and pushed the door open—already bracing herself for the worst.

But what she saw was nothing like what she'd imagined.

Inside, Mo Tingyan sat perfectly intact on the sofa, one leg crossed over the other, relaxed as if he were on vacation. Across from him, a camera on the table blinked red, recording.

And in the corner—

Hao Xuguang was completely naked, squatting on the floor, trembling like a stripped, battered pig. His head was bleeding, hair matted, face swollen into a grotesque shape. On the bloodstain before him, two white teeth lay quietly.

He looked nothing like a human being.

The moment Mo Tingyan saw Wenzhi, the cold, deadly aura around him vanished. In its place returned the unruly, languid charm she knew too well.

He stood up quickly, strode over, and pulled her into his arms with a low, teasing smile.

"Didn't you come in before me? Why so slow?"

He gently turned her around so she faced away from the scene, shielding her eyes with his warm palm. Then, still holding her, he looked at the shivering pig in the corner and spoke with a lazy, terrifying smirk.

"You. Get out. Run naked around the block—twice. Then we're even. Otherwise…"

He didn't even finish.

But Hao Xuguang already trembled violently. He didn't dare look at Mo Tingyan.

To him, streaking naked was worse than death.

But the man standing before him?

That man could easily make him beg for death.

Because… his real identity was—

Hao Xuguang didn't even dare think about it.

He scrambled up, covered his shame with shaking hands, and fled like his life depended on it.

Only when the door slammed shut did Mo Tingyan finally release Wenzhi's eyes. A faint smile played at the corner of his lips.

Wenzhi stared at him, anxiety tightening her voice.

"Are… are you okay? Xu Ailin said Hao Xuguang tried to drug you. You didn't drink anything, did you?"

Mo Tingyan instantly leaned closer, lowering his voice dramatically.

"How could I be okay? I drank a whole glass just now. I'm burning up—can barely breathe. But I forced myself to hold on so I could beat that old pervert first. Pearl, I'm suffering… let's go home."

Wenzhi nodded and followed him out.

But after only a few steps, she suddenly froze.

"Wait. How did Hao Xuguang listen to you so willingly? You told him to run naked and he actually—"

She didn't finish.

Mo Tingyan swooped down, lifting her into his arms bridal-style, striding out of the hallway.

"Pearl, I really can't hold it anymore. We need to go. Now."

Afraid he might drop her in his "weakened state," she clung to him.

"Put me down! I can walk faster!"

"No," he insisted shamelessly. "Holding you calms me. You smell… soothing."

Wenzhi: "…"

He carried her all the way to the underground garage, set her in the car, and sped off.

But instead of heading home, he took a sharp turn.

Wenzhi frowned. "Where are we going?"

"Home is too far. I won't make it."

He stopped at a mountain overlook—isolated, pitch black, no people, no cars.

After that—it was chaos.

Wenzhi… barely survived.

When she finally dressed again and caught her breath, she looked at him suspiciously.

"You… really got drugged?"

Mo Tingyan lay beside her, pretending fatigue.

"Would I lie about something like that?"

Wenzhi frowned harder.

Anyone might not lie—but him? He was the type who shouldn't even be trusted with punctuation marks.

She turned fully toward him, serious.

"Get up. We're going to the hospital. A blood test will show if you're telling the truth."

Mo Tingyan blinked, then gave a sheepish smile.

"Pearl… girls this sharp are scary."

Wenzhi: "…"

So she had been tricked.

She'd been eaten alive for nothing—multiple times.

But—if he wasn't drugged…

Then how could he keep going that long?!

She pinched him hard.

"Drive. Home!"

Mo Tingyan rubbed her head, coaxing gently,

"Don't be mad. I just wanted to try the outdoors. Life is full of misery—you have to find your own fun. Didn't you think it was exciting?"

Exciting?

She almost died from exhaustion.

Wenzhi turned away from him completely, refusing to speak to this lunatic.

Seeing she was truly angry, Mo Tingyan plastered on a shameless grin.

"Then… you can get revenge. I'll let you sleep it back."

"Shut up!" she snapped.

But he still leaned close, refusing to behave.

"Pearl, don't be angry. I was alert enough to catch on, or else I really would have been drugged. So technically… I didn't lie. By the way, what about you? You met Xu, right? She didn't hurt you?"

At the mention of Xu Ailin, Wenzhi forced down her annoyance and recounted everything.

Finally she said, "We have leverage on them, but they also have leverage on us. And after what you did to Hao Xuguang tonight, they won't let this go."

Mo Tingyan scoffed.

"What leverage? At worst, they expose our relationship."

Wenzhi turned to him slowly, expression stiff.

She might as well have carved NO onto her face.

She and Mo Tingyan were merely "partners in life." They could split any time.

Going public now would only make a later breakup ugly. Silence was better.

Seeing her unwilling expression, a dark look flickered across Mo Tingyan's eyes.

He thought of how she once publicly admitted her relationship with Mo Tingjue—and instantly felt sour and irritated.

"Pearl," he said with a tight voice,

"You say I'm better than Mo Tingjue, but you don't mean it, do you? You could announce him to the world, but me? I'm not worthy, right?"
