Chapter 10 - RE - UNITED

Thomas and Rick chatted for a while, had a few laughs and Thomas had completely wiped the frown off Rick's face.

Rick soon had a sudden realization.

He had left his wife all alone in the house for hours.

He rushed out of the house telling Thomas a quick thanks and went straight back to their apartment.

As he ran, he hoped that his union gang hadn't yet being invited.

Once he arrived he immediately knocked on the door.

Bam Bam Bam

A loud noise was heard as everyone inside pondered on who would open the door.

Rick placed his ear on the door and heard voices, lots of them all chatting and munching as if having dinner.

At the moment, he knew that he had to do something.

"Open up, open up", was soon screamed by Rick as he tampered for someone to open up the gate.

Finally, the door was opened.

His face immediately turned pale like a bread that had stayed out for days.

He looked at Velmont sternly giving him the cold eye.

After a luxurious evening with Thomas, he only came back to see Velmont standing at his doorstep.

"What are you doing in my house",1 Rick shouted furiously as he held Velmont on the collar and scolded him.

"Relax. Relax", Velmont said as he removed the sweaty arms off his collar.

"Your wife is the one who let us inside so don't begin shouting at us", Velmont retaliated calmly.

Rick calmed himself down and went inside.

His frown turned into a smile when he saw all his old union members in the dining.

"Wow, Andrew, Matthew, Greg....., you're all here", Rick echoed with a cheer.

Mrs. Rick on the other hand had completely dampened her smile.

After all the thought of Rick lying to her and pretending about it all these years she could not bear it.

The only thing separating Mrs. Rick from divorce was just about their child.

Rick immediately realized that Mrs. Rick was not at the table and queried about her.

"She ran off screaming after we told her about her union and you being the leader of it", Matthew told Rick.

Rick left the dining table and rushed to Mrs. Rick room.

"So hi", Rick said as he slowly walked into the room.

"It isn't enough with you. After lying to me all these years you still had the mind to keep lying and keeping secrets even after I gave birth.

So what other secrets are you keeping what others.

I can't believe I trusted you", Mrs. Rick splattered as she engulfed her head in the pillow and billowed her hands into Paul's arms.

"Sorry. The thing is, I did not know how you would take it.

I thought you might think that I was different. A murderer you may say. As many girls did while I was still flirting.

I'm sorry for that, no more secrets", Rick said also billowed in tears.

Mrs. Rick could easily notice the sympathy of Rick admitting that he had done wrong.

She swore to herself and to Rick that she would never give him that same love and attention as usual.

She also lost most trust for people, especially Rick.

Rick led Mrs. Rick back to the table and begged her to take a seat.

She soon started smiling again as she began being treated like a queen by all the members present.

'Well, I guess they aren't so bad after all', Mrs. Rick thought to herself as she wiped the tears of her already wrinkled face.

"I almost forgot to introduce my colleagues", Rick soon and suddenly brought to the table.

He started off with Matthew.

Matthew came to the union before Rick.

Honestly, he was the only person there to have come to the union before Rick.

Matthew was a harsh, cruel, commanding and anxious gentleman.

He behaved well in front of the ladies but acted as normal in front of men.

He was a big companion for Rick and loved his time in the union.

He stayed in the union until it disbanded.

He never planned of leaving the union and felt that as a form of livelihood.

He was devastated after he heard that the union had been shut down.

He never lived another day without looking at pictures of his union days and begin wallowing in tears.

He got a side job as a plumber but never felt the true spirit of life ever again.

He visited Rick as a way of consolation, to see the union members once more.

Matthew sat down carefully listening to what Rick had to say.

He grabbed more food to eat as Rick held Mrs. Rick trying his best for forgiveness.

"The plumber is working out great by the way", Matthew then stated to break the silence.

To this, there was no reply.

Matthew sat back down to his seat as Rick continued talking.

The second man he talked about was Andrew.

Andrew in comparison, was the direct opposite of Matthew.

No pretence, just direct and straight to the point.

Andrew loved everyone as well as he loved the union.

He came about a week after Rick had come and left about a week after Rick had left.

Rick then continued by saying that Andrew ensured that no one was left behind.

Andrew in personal terms was nearing his fourties but he looked like someone in his fifties.

He has a few wrinkles, and rashes.

He looked as though he was over stressed and worn out.

Andrew hadn't married yet. His outlook was one that many people looked over.

The first woman he ever dated turned out to be using him, and Andrew dumped her immediately.

He was actually a very caring man and hated wickedness.

He as much as Thomas were easygoing.

His only problem was that he wasn't a good listener.

At some points in his life, he failed to listen to instructions and it cost some union members their lives.

Either way, the blue ecstatic shirt that he wore with the blue trousers shined out among the crowd.

Next in line was Greg. Greg was revengeful but heartwarming.

He could listen but he was the kind of guy who you do not want to get into a tussle with.

In fact, unknown to them, Greg was planning on murdering whoever was responsible of shutting down the union.

It will not be his first time committing a murder.

He had committed one during his childhood days.

He purposely poisoned his younger brother and up to that day, the police still couldn't tell what led to the murder.

He was still arrested but only his parents were put in prison while he was expected to receive a fine when he grew older as the law stated in the land.

Still, he made a good union member.

He loved the job almost as much as Rick did and also loved the joy of seeing the dead bodies and blood spill as he walked through.

Rick introduced the rest of the members, some of which had joined after he left the union.

Those which, he wasn't to familiar with.

Rick soon remembered Colg, his long lost friend. Tears bottled up in his eyes as he excused himself.

He could only hope 'what if?' as he walked his way into his room.
