Chapter 34: William's Plan
Under everyone's gaze, an anomaly appeared on Carol's face.
Thin blood vessels, black as ink, emerged faintly beneath her skin.
At the same time, Carol looked pained, her limbs twisting strangely.
"Oh my God."
Mrs. Dale covered her mouth in horror.
"Evil spirit disturbing the world, by the authority granted by the Holy Father..."
Seeing it was effective, Ivan sped up his chanting.
"Noisy one!"
Carol suddenly shouted.
"Shut your filthy mouth!"
A deep, raspy voice echoed in the room.
At this moment, Carol seemed like a different person, not at all like a child of a few years old.
Ivan looked down from above and commanded, "Speak your name."
"Ha!"
Unexpectedly, "Carol" sneered.
"Foolish lackey, delusional enough to think your enemy would expose their weakness. Has the Church fallen so low?"
Surprise flashed in Ivan's eyes.
This evil spirit seemed different from those he had encountered before.
But he knew he couldn't fall into the opponent's rhythm, or his own spirit would be disturbed.
So Ivan continued to chant silently.
"Ivan Bray, medium, an illegitimate child raised by the Church, yet openly summoning the dead. You are quite like us, hehe."
Who would have thought "Carol" would expose his private affairs.
Now Ivan was truly astonished; the opponent was an evil spirit with "prophetic" abilities.
Generally, this ability only appeared in higher-ranking evil spirits or demons.
"Nonsense."
Ivan snorted coldly and decided not to delay any longer, forcing the opponent with enhanced Holy Power.
Carol let out a painful scream.
"Enough..." Mrs. Dale stepped forward worriedly.
But she was stopped by Niken after taking just one step.
Aside, William narrowed his eyes.
This Ivan actually intended to forcefully invade Carol's body with Holy Power to force the evil spirit out.
Leaving aside whether this was feasible.
At this rate, perhaps Carol's soul would be damaged before the evil spirit was expelled.
"I must stop him."
William made a decision immediately.
From the previous conversation between the demon hunter and Ivan, it wasn't hard to guess that the latter held a high status in the Exorcism Academy.
And judging from Ivan's subsequent performance, he was also a proud and arrogant person.
Given William's current status, rushing forward to stop him might be counterproductive.
It would also create an enemy invisibly.
So he ruled out this option first.
William looked around and soon had an idea.
"Ms. Percy, do you want to get the commission money?"
William quietly came to Percy's side and nudged her with his elbow.
"Hmm?" The latter turned her head in confusion.
A moment later.
"Father, please... please stop. Carol is in pain; she will get hurt."
Percy suddenly stood up.
Her heart was beating fast, recalling what William had just told her.
"Be tactful, don't hurt this priest's self-esteem, don't say who instructed you..."
Everyone looked at her.
Ivan didn't stop his hand movements but stared unkindly at this woman.
"Long case, leg bindings... Knights?" he thought to himself.
Since entering, Ivan had been staring at Carol and hadn't looked directly at anyone else, so he only noticed now.
"Uh... doing this will only hurt Carol's soul before expelling the evil spirit."
Percy said thoughtfully.
Ivan raised an eyebrow, surprised that someone here could see it.
He indeed wanted to force the evil spirit out, and naturally, there would be a price.
But as long as he prayed for Carol afterward, she would recover after a year of rest.
Although exposed, he certainly wouldn't admit it.
"Mr. Niken, it seems this lady is not satisfied with my method." Ivan said coldly.
Aside, Jim was witnessing an exorcism for the first time, and seeing his daughter like this, he was inevitably worried.
He chose to trust Ivan only because of the "miracle" Ivan showed earlier.
But hearing Percy's words now, he hesitated.
"How do you know this will hurt Carol?" He stared at Percy.
"Because... uh."
Percy started to speak but quickly shut her mouth.
"Danger, danger! Almost sold out the other Father." She thought to herself.
A moment later, she organized her language.
"Um, because Mr. Evil Spirit is very cunning. He uses Carol's soul as cover and likely plans to replace it."
Hearing this, Ivan suddenly realized something.
He immediately stopped his movements and observed Carol's condition.
But the latter seemed to have no other abnormalities.
So Ivan raised an eyebrow: "Ma'am, I wonder what position you hold in the Knights?"
To perceive these things, could this woman be an "Earth Knight"?
"Knights? What's that?"
Percy tilted her head.
"I work as a salesclerk at Marr Supermarket!"
Hearing this, Ivan was stunned for a moment, still thinking about which faction "Marr Supermarket" was.
Then he realized it was a shopping place.
The atmosphere in the room froze.
Mr. Niken felt he was being played, so he immediately scolded: "Dirk, take this lady away quickly."
Then he seemed to remember something, pointing at William and Emma:
"And these two. Get all these troublemakers out of here!"
But at this moment, "Carol" spoke again.
"Just a little bit more. Damn meddlesome woman!"
Ivan turned around instantly, shock flashing in his eyes.
Carol's right face suddenly became abnormally old, and her pupil turned pitch black.
Ivan was about to act again.
"Father, think carefully. Acting against me will also hurt Carol."
The evil spirit smiled hideously.
Ivan's eyes turned cold; he wouldn't be bewitched by such words.
But others didn't think so.
"No."
Mrs. Dale rushed up and grabbed Ivan. Seeing her daughter become like this, she really didn't dare let him act again.
"That's right. Let this priest get lost, maybe I'll return little Carol to you."
Listening to the evil spirit's arrogant words, Ivan wanted to act forcefully.
But he couldn't ignore the Niken couple.
"Damn it." Ivan cursed inwardly.
Everyone realized Percy's concern was right and looked at her.
Niken was a bit embarrassed; a few seconds ago, he planned to drive her away.
Mrs. Dale was decisive.
She immediately came to Percy, holding her hand and said:
"Ms. Iliad, you have a way, right? Please save Carol."
Seeing everyone looking at her, Percy breathed a little faster.
After getting a response from a certain handsome guy (William), she nodded immediately.
"No problem, Mrs. Dale, but I need to make some preparations."
Mrs. Dale nodded: "No problem, what do you need?"
"A clean room. Everyone else must leave, leaving only Carol."
Percy spoke while thinking.
"By the way! I also need this Father's help. No, to be my assistant!"
Everyone looked in the direction she pointed.
They saw the Asian priest looking a bit "surprised," then pointing at himself.
"Me?"
