Chapter 25 - EPISODE 25— “THE WATCHERS GATHER”

The night in Lagos feels wrong. The air is too still, the crickets too silent, and Sade's sense of danger keeps rising like pressure behind her eyes.

Tunde notices instantly.

Tunde (softly):

Sade… something is here.

A sudden gust of icy wind sweeps through the street—even though the night is warm. Lights flicker. The shadows ripple unnaturally as if something massive is moving within them.

Sade shivers.

Sade:

Tunde, this doesn't feel like ordinary spirits. This feels… organized.

A low humming vibration begins to pulse through the ground. Tunde grabs Sade's arm.

Tunde:

They've found you.

A shape steps out of a wall like a living silhouette. Smooth, tall, and faceless. Its presence bends the air around it.

Shadow Being (distorted voice):

"You were not meant to return."

Sade staggers backward. Tunde instinctively moves in front of her, energy crackling around his body—white, powerful, and ancient.

Sade (whispering):

Tunde… who are they?

Tunde:

The Watchers of the Veil. They maintain the balance between worlds… and right now, they see you as a threat.

The Watcher lifts a hand, and the environment warps—like heat waves distorting reality. Tunde's aura flares.

Tunde releases a blast of white energy. The Watcher absorbs it like mist, its form reforming instantly.

Another two figures step out of the shadows.

Three Watchers.

Sade's heartbeat thunders.

Watcher:

"She crossed the boundary. She must be taken back."

Tunde grabs Sade's hand.

Tunde:

Run.

They sprint down the road, but the world around them bends—the Watchers are warping space, shortening streets, looping corners, turning Lagos into a maze.

Sade gasps.

Sade:

Tunde—we're not moving! The road keeps repeating!

Tunde curses under his breath.

He stops and faces the shadows.

Tunde:

They won't stop. Unless…

He looks at Sade with a heavy expression.

Tunde:

Sade, I have to use the part of myself I've been avoiding.

Sade:

What part?

His eyes glow blinding white.

Tunde:

The part that never belonged to the human world…

The part of me that was created to protect beings like you.

Sade's breath catches.

Tunde… is not just a spirit boy.

Not just a guide.

He's something older.

Something powerful.

Something the Watchers fear.

The Street Explodes with Light

Tunde raises his hand, and a massive shockwave of spirit-light erupts outward. The Watchers stagger, their forms glitching, their voices vibrating violently:

Watchers (in unison):

"THE GUARDIAN AWAKENS—"

Then silence.

The Watchers vanish like smoke sucked into a vacuum.

Sade trembles

Sade:

Tunde… what did you just do?

Tunde's glow fades. He looks drained, almost fragile.

Tunde:

I revealed myself. And now… every entity on both sides of the Veil will feel it.

He grips her shoulders.

Tunde:

We're running out of time.

Sade swallows hard.

For the first time, she truly understands:

Her return to life was not a blessing.

It was a spark—

one that just ignited a supernatural war.
