Chapter 54 - Take Me to Haicheng This Weekend

Sun Zhewen returned to bed, smelling of fresh water from his shower. He lifted the covers and carefully lay down. Li Zhiyan, like a lazy kitten, snuggled into his arms, nuzzling her cheek against his chest. After finding a comfortable position, she said contentedly, "It's still most comfortable in your arms."

Her voice held a hint of laziness and coquettishness, but a complex emotion flashed in her eyes. After a pause, she continued, "I don't care how you mess around outside, but you can't let my sister know you're messing around with other women. That vinegar jar of hers would castrate you." Saying this, she giggled, her laughter echoing in the silent room, but the mirth didn't reach her eyes.

Sun Zhewen sighed softly, held her tighter, and mumbled, "Yeah, let's sleep."

The room fell into a brief silence, broken only by the occasional chirping of insects outside the window. After a while, Li Zhiyan broke the silence, her voice soft in the darkness, "Friday night, can you take me to Haicheng?"

Sun Zhewen made a questioning sound, "Hmm?"

Li Zhiyan buried her head deeper, as if trying to avoid something, and whispered, "He wants me to go and keep him company."

Sun Zhewen's body stiffened slightly, then he held her tighter, his voice filled with deep remorse, "I'm sorry."

Li Zhiyan raised her head and gently kissed his chin, as if to comfort him. She said slowly, "Don't say sorry. I'm willing to help you. From the moment I decided to help you, I was prepared for everything. Since I made this choice, I won't regret it. Besides, only this way can I slowly accumulate capital. One day, I can get out of my current difficult situation and truly be free. Do you understand?"

Sun Zhewen was silent, simply holding her tighter. Moonlight streamed through the gap in the curtains, illuminating their intertwined figures.

Li Zhiyan's gaze drifted to the window, her thoughts seemingly carried away by the moonlight. "Sometimes, I really don't know if what I'm doing is right. But I know that if I don't do this, I might be trapped in this life forever, never able to get ahead." Her voice was soft, as if she were talking to herself.

Sun Zhewen gently stroked her hair, saying, "Zhiyan, I'm sorry for involving you in something so complicated. But please believe me, I will do everything I can to set you free."

Li Zhiyan smiled, her expression somewhat wistful in the moonlight. "I believe you. It's just that the road ahead is long, and we don't know what the future holds. But as long as you're by my side, I feel like I have someone to rely on, and I have the courage to face anything."

Sun Zhewen looked into her eyes and solemnly promised, "I will always be by your side, no matter what difficulties we encounter, we'll face them together."

Tears glistened in Li Zhiyan's eyes, and she nodded, "Okay, let's pinky promise."

Sun Zhewen extended his pinky finger, hooking it with hers. "Pinky promise, don't you dare change it for a hundred years."

They looked at each other and laughed, and for a moment, all their worries and anxieties seemed to vanish. They held each other tightly, as if only they existed in the world.

The night deepened, and the two of them drifted off to sleep in each other's arms. Moonlight spilled across their faces, painting a serene and beautiful picture. Yet, in their dreams, perhaps they were still filled with hopes and worries about the future…

The next morning, sunlight streamed through the gaps in the curtains, like golden threads illuminating the room and casting a soft glow. Sun Zhewen woke up first. He turned his head slightly, gazing at Li Zhiyan who was still asleep. Her face looked even more peaceful under the caress of the sunlight. A few strands of hair lay scattered on the pillow, and her long eyelashes fluttered gently, like the wings of a butterfly.

Watching her peaceful sleeping face, he carefully and gently got out of bed, trying to make every movement as quiet as possible, for fear of waking her.

However, despite Sun Zhewen's caution, Li Zhiyan was still awakened by his subtle movements. She slowly woke up, rubbed her eyes, and looked at Sun Zhewen sleepily, her voice soft and lazy with sleepiness. "Are you getting up so early?"

Sun Zhewen looked at her dazed state, and a gentle smile couldn't help but spread across his lips. He leaned down and kissed her forehead, whispering, "I'm going to make you breakfast. You can sleep a little longer."

Li Zhiyan didn't let go, but instead grabbed his hand, her eyes filled with a hint of reluctance and affection. "No, I want to cuddle more."

Sun Zhewen smiled helplessly, his eyes full of tenderness. He lay back down on the bed and gently embraced her. Li Zhiyan curled up in his arms. Neither of them spoke, and they just lay there quietly for a while, enjoying the warmth and tranquility of the moment. Their breaths and heartbeats intertwined, like the most beautiful melody in the world.

Time seemed to stand still at this moment. The whole world was left with only the figures of the two of them embracing and the familiar scent of each other. They were immersed in this tranquility and warmth, feeling the sense of security that came from the other's presence.

After a moment, Li Zhiyan finally released his hand, a hint of reluctance in her eyes, but she still said, understandingly, "Alright, go make breakfast. I should get up too."

Sun Zhewen nodded and kissed her forehead again before getting up and leaving the room.

Sun Zhewen washed up quickly and went into the kitchen to prepare breakfast for Li Zhiyan. He skillfully opened the refrigerator, took out eggs, milk, and bread, and started frying eggs and heating milk. The kitchen was filled with the aroma of food, and soon, a simple yet loving breakfast was ready.

Li Zhiyan also finished washing up and came to the table. She looked at the breakfast in front of her, a happy smile on her face. The two sat opposite each other, eating breakfast and talking softly. Sunlight spilled over them, creating a warm and beautiful scene.

After breakfast, Sun Zhewen went to the office. As soon as he arrived, before he could even sit down, his phone rang. It was a call from Liu Ruyue. Her voice on the phone was a little urgent, asking him to come over.

Sun Zhewen sighed and went to Liu Ruyue's office. As soon as he entered, Liu Ruyue quickly closed the door and then eagerly embraced him. Her eyes were filled with dependence and deep affection, her voice tinged with a hint of grievance and sadness: "Zhewen, I realized I can't live without you. I didn't sleep well all night last night, always thinking about you, and thinking about how you won't be here soon, and thinking about you and Chen Qingyan, and my heart aches."

Sun Zhewen gently patted her back, comforting her, "Be good, there's a long future ahead, don't think so much."

Liu Ruyue looked up, her eyes filled with tears, "But how can I not think? Just thinking that I might not see you in the future, my heart feels like it's being torn apart. Zhewen, what should we do?"

Sun Zhewen was silent for a moment, then said, "Ruyue, don't be like this. Although the situation is a bit complicated now, I believe there's always a solution."
