Synopsis
For his mind was a broken and sad little thing, a creation meant to bring an end and herald a beginning. His existence parted the heavens and split the earth. His words made those before him fall to their knees, a sad melody escaping his lips. Oh, lost child, son of chaos. Why do you cry?

Chapter 1 - Cogito Ergo Sum

The choir sings as the king descends from his throne, his mighty footsteps shaking the earth.

Mothers, hide your children; Fathers, hide the Mothers, but it will always remain the same. At the end of the day, the result of anything living is entropy.

"Questioning....existence...matter.

To think .... too long on it would be going ... orders, and to go ..... orders ..... forfeit your purpose."

"Ahh, your purpose? To ...., of course...there is nothing else."

THWOMP

The sound of something wet hitting the ground echoed through the empty cave, illuminated only by a strange subterranean lake. Small pink fish scattered around the lake due to the water's disruption.

Slowly, a hand reached up from where the sound originated, grabbing onto the cave's rough edges as if feeling for something. Eventually, they would hold onto a cave wall and pull themselves up.

Their short feet staggered for a few moments before catching themselves.

"Dark...I can't see."

They inched forward along the cave walls, feeling for each and every crevice in the walls. Almost as if they had never walked before, using the walls as a crutch, like a baby learning to walk.

Eventually, they'd bump into an object.

A table with all sorts of vials filled with strange liquids lined the cave walls, some of them having been knocked over...It seems someone left in a hurry.

Of course, they wouldn't know that...

"Move."

They knocked the table over with a bit more force than needed, smashing all the vials across the cave.

"...Thank you." They said, their voice taking on a happy tone. They continued walking, eventually letting go of the cave walls as they got used to their legs.

Eventually, after shambling their way through the cave, the small figure would find what they were looking for... an exit.

It was a beautiful day outside; the sun shone brightly across the open fields leading up to the cave's entrance.

As the tiny figure stumbled out of the cave, the sun's light would reveal their figure.

They were a small boy, seeming to be around 9 years old. Short spiky brown hair fell to the sides of their unblemished face, creating bangs.

Their entire body was wet, drenching the rags that he wore on his back. A sorry-looking plain brown thing that could only be described as a leather bag with a rope tied around its mid-section.

The boy remained spread out on the ground, his eyes still closed. His hands felt around, grabbing onto the soft green blades of grass. He'd continue this for what seemed like minutes before rolling over and onto his knees.

The light from the sun would catch his attention, leaking through his closed eyelids and distracting him from playing around in the grass.

He'd face his closed eyes towards the shining mass before slowly opening them.

His glowing greens met the eternal ball of fire for over 30 seconds as if locked in a stalemate. He stared intently as if challenging the star in the sky; unfortunately, he'd underestimated the large ball of plasma.

Eventually, giving in, he'd put his face into his hands and rubbed his eyes vigorously.

Soon, he'd stop and look up angrily, a pout plastered on his childish face. His green eyes trying their best to look intimidating.

"H-Hey, no fair!! You don't have the flesh things over your eyes!" He'd point at the star as if expecting a response. After a few moments, he'd shake his head and cross his arms.

"You're no fun..." Looking away from the sun angrily, he'd take the chance to observe his surroundings.

"What is this place? Where am I? What am I?" A look of confusion crossed his eyes before he shrugged.

"I remember someone talking all the way back then, or was it just now. They...said that I... never mind. I'm alive and that's all that matters. Well, since you exist too, are you alive as well?"

He'd stare back at the sun for a little bit before tearing away his eyes due to the pain.

"...I can't tell." The boy deflated, examining his surroundings once again. "I guess I have to go, well, I'll see you later...thing."

It had been over an hour since the boy had awoken, and he was not having the best of times.

"I'm so confused!!! It's like I've been walking in circles. I swear that's the third time I've seen that grey thing!" The brown haired menace exclaimed to nobody in particular as he shouted at a large boulder wedged between two giant oak trees.

"I'll never find an exit out of this place..." He deflated as he crossed his hands and sat against the large boulder."

CRACK

The boy screamed as the boulder suddenly dislodged from its position between the two trees. It rolled down a hill and stopped once it had reached flat ground.

Fortunately, the boy didn't roll with it and was instead flat on his back at the top of the hill.

"Ouch...I guess I found the exit." The boy struggled to his feet for a few moments before looking around at the beautiful landscape around him.

Rolling green hills spread endlessly before him, and the far sight of a blue river cutting into the landscape made it even more amazing.

Even further was a mountain, and atop that mountain was a castle, blanketed in perpetual snow.

The boy's face was a mix of awe and slight disappointment. "This place is beautiful...even though I've got no clue what I'm looking at."

"I guess that's where I'm supposed to go... I need to find my creator so they can tell me my purpose." The boy clasped a fistful of grass for no reason whatsoever before he started marching towards the castle atop the mountain.

It took a total of thirty seconds before the boy was distracted by a blue butterfly and ran the other way.

"I shouldn't have followed that flying thing..." The boy trudged across the seemingly endless plane before him, his head held down in despair.

"I'M SO HUNGRY!!!" He yelled out before-

SMACK

He walked right into something.

It was not what he expected. Big, white, and black. Mooing. Standing in the middle of the field like it had just dropped out of the sky.

"Huh, who are you?" The boy rubbed his head after the impact against the strange creature's body.

"MOOOOOOO." It continued making sounds as it chewed on the green grass.

"Moose? Is that your name?" The boy scrambled to his feet, as he was eager to make a good first impression on the first living thing that seemed to pay him any mind.

"Well, my name is....uhm. I don't know." The boy put his right hand on his chin as he took on a contemplative expression. "Note...when I find my creator, I need to ask for my name."

"MOOOOOOOOOOO." The strange creature continued, as it chewed on the grass.

"Yeah, yeah, I know that's your name. You don't need to repeat it." The boy said with a deadpan expression. "Also, you don't need to be so loud."

"MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO."

"Wait....are you saying that you want me to use your name for the time being? B-but I can't do that, it's your na-"

"MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

"Y-you really are a nice guy or gal...thank you. Well then, you can call me Moose, too." The newly named Moose stammered before a wide smile spread across his face at the announcement of his new name."
