Morris's POV
Edwin's eyes fixed on me. "Has the situation in Aethel been handled?"
"Yes," I replied.
He brought up Ana's kidnapping from recently.
"We finally got our sister back. I won't let anything threaten her safety again."
I lifted an eyebrow.
"What exactly are you getting at, Edwin?"
Something about the way I said his name always seemed to hit a nerve with him.
His temper flared.
"Stop using my name like that. And I refuse to support Ana's relationship with you."
I kept smiling, though the warmth had drained from my eyes.
"You refuse to support her being with me? Do you think sharing blood gives you the right to control Ana's choices?"
Edwin shot back, "This isn't about control—it's about protecting her from harm. Staying close to you puts her in constant danger. Her abduction should've been warning enough."
The kidnapping still haunted me, I'll admit.
I wavered for a moment, then held firm.
"I've eliminated those threats. It won't happen again."
