Ana's POV
Even though I was confident Aileen couldn't actually harm Morris, I made sure to fill him in on every word she'd said during our encounter.
"I realize Aileen lacks the power to seriously threaten you, but she's cunning and manipulative. You should stay alert when dealing with people lately," I cautioned him.
We wandered through the streets, fingers intertwined.
Morris looked at me, mischief dancing in his eyes.
"My baby's gotten pretty protective of me lately, hasn't she?" Morris teased.
I'd built up a tolerance to his endless sweet words and flirty pet names by now.
I gave Morris's arm a light smack. "Cut it out," I said.
Morris released my hand and slipped his arm around my shoulders, drawing me against him. He bent close to my ear and murmured, "Chill—anyone I'm dealing with isn't that amateur."
I stared at him with wide eyes. "So you actually do have plenty of dangerous enemies?"
Morris's grin turned even more mischievous, clearly entertained.
