The moment Isobel's voice reached my ears, my expression hardened instantly.
Ana's head turned toward the sound.
I watched as Isobel walked over, wearing that practiced warm smile of hers.
Ana clearly knew who she was.
During that jewelry exhibition, Yolanda had introduced Isobel as my sister.
But this so-called sister of mine had shown nothing but coldness toward Ana.
Following Ana's gaze, I turned to face Isobel.
This time around, Isobel's behavior seemed completely different from our last encounter. She was greeting Ana with apparent warmth.
"Ms. Vernon, what a pleasant surprise to see you again."
I looked at Ana, confusion flickering across my face.
"The two of you have met?"
Ana gave a small nod. "Your mother brought me to that jewelry exhibition last time. That's where I met your sister."
The moment I heard Ana say "sister" without any trace of discomfort, everything clicked into place.
