Chapter 4 - Enemies on a Narrow Path

Chapter 4.

On the other side of Dungeon Floor 12.

"Go, you idiots! Why are you hesitating!"

"Bastard! Can't you see how thick that thing's hide is!!"

"We can't penetrate it!"

On the pale grassland, shouts of anger rose and fell.

A group of adventurers in worn-out plate armor and various weapons was fleeing in disarray.

Behind them, a giant, orange lizard with a long neck, moving on four limbs, chased closely like a raging elephant.

"Is that a Young Dragon? It's pretty ugly."

Hiding behind a relatively concealed clump of bushes, Eugene carefully observed the distance.

As a rare Elite Monster of this floor, the Young Dragon's running speed was completely disproportionate to its giant size. Its heavy scales were impervious to weapons, and its massive body looked extremely imposing.

At least for LV.1 adventurers, this was already a nightmare difficulty monster.

"This group... they look familiar?"

Eugene was a little puzzled.

But when the adventurers got a little closer, he immediately understood.

This team was the group of adventurers who had beaten his original body, "Ajin," to death!

Ajin had a few connections and traded small items from the Dungeon, so he approached these guys who spent all day boasting in taverns.

The business deal failed, and instead, he was extorted for a large sum.

Because the opponent struck too hard, Ajin didn't even make it until morning and died in the corner of the street.

"Enemies on a narrow path, huh..."

The corner of Eugene's mouth curled up.

Even if he was cold-blooded, killing a person on the very first day of transmigration was a bit difficult to accept.

But now, it was fine.

With Ajin's memories merged, Eugene felt a restless surge of energy and veins throbbing on his forehead.

Confronting his killer, he felt no guilt, but rather an intense anticipation for this reunion.

ROAR!

With a roar, the pattern of chase and escape was finally broken.

But the one in crisis was not the fleeing adventurers.

It was the Young Dragon, which had been so aggressive just a moment ago!

Its thick limbs, which had been racing, were suddenly bound by a large area of ice, preventing it from struggling free.

One of the adventurers stood in front of the immobilized Young Dragon, his face twisted in concentration, holding a dazzling blue short dagger that radiated bone-chilling cold.

That was a Magic Sword, a consumable item with a spell carved onto the weapon that could be used without Magic Power. It was probably the equivalent of a modern gLenade, though it could be used a few times.

In any case, it was quite expensive for low-level adventurers.

"Damn it! They forced me to use my life savings!"

The bearded leader looked fearfully at the Young Dragon, struggling desperately. Seeing that the monster could not advance for the moment, the face covered in cold sweat immediately showed a look of triumph.

"Luckily that little punk funded this, or I couldn't afford this thing!"

"That guy counts as having taken a blow for us, ha ha ha!"

The few of them looked greedily at the Magic Sword. With their financial means, they clearly had to pool their resources.

And Ajin was like a foolish, self-delivering wallet, contributing to their lavish life.

"Lads! Go! Take this thing down!"

It turned out that this group was initially targeting the Young Dragon.

As the strongest Elite Monster on the Upper Floors, its scarcity meant its Magic Stone and item drops could fetch a significantly high price.

While it wouldn't make them instantly rich, the profit was still very tempting.

Even though the process might be thrilling, who among those who descend into the Dungeon isn't risking their neck?

Instead of painfully fighting small-fry for months, they decided to gamble!

However, the carefully laid trap was easily broken.

In the end, they were forced to use the Magic Sword they had kept for emergencies.

This one strike was worth a hundred thousand Valis!

Thinking of this, the hearts of the bearded man and the others bled.

They fumbled to pull out ropes, throwing them one after another to lasso the Young Dragon's neck, then began a tug-of-war!

The six members of the seven-person team had to use all their strength to barely subdue it.

As the captain, the bearded man naturally had to deliver the final blow.

He pulled a cold, gleaming short sword from his lower back, carefully circling to the back of the Young Dragon's restrained head.

That was its vital spot.

Just a stab with this sharpest weapon, and it would be finished!

"Hehe, die!"

The focused bearded man's face was contorted in a sneer. He raised his weapon, ready to stab.

But at that very instant, a streak of swift shadow darted past him from the side like a swallow.

Snap!

One of the ropes binding the Young Dragon immediately snapped!

"What's going on!?"

All seven people were shocked!

Losing its balance, the enormous force transmitted through the rope instantly pulled them off the ground!

ROAR

The Young Dragon's eyes were filled with endless fury. It violently shook its neck, swinging at least three adventurers in a full circle in the air and violently slamming them onto the ground!

CRACK! The dull sound of bones breaking was chilling.

"Quick, pull them up!"

The bearded man's lips were pale and drenched in sweat, completely losing his earlier smugness.

He frantically looked around.

How could the rope suddenly break!?

Could someone be trying to steal the prey...

MOO!!

Suddenly, a deep, violent roar sounded behind him, and the bearded man's heart violently contracted.

That sound... Minotaur!?

How could one appear here (on the Upper Floors)?

He spun around quickly, but what greeted him was a blast of wind full of the scent of death!

Pounce!

"Pfffff!!!"

The giant bull horns easily pierced through the plate armor's protection, directly stabbing into the body.

The Minotaur's impact, with his entire body weight, was like a giant rock crushing him, shattering nearly all of the bearded man's ribs!

Heehee... Eugene's consciousness laughed madly.

And that terrifying monster face synchronized to show an incredibly sinister smile!

"M-Monster..."

The bearded man's eyes bulged, his soul shaking violently.

In those eyes, which shouldn't have any emotion, he saw the satisfaction of revenge and endless mockery and derision.

He struggled to speak, but the blood pouring from his mouth was uncontrollable, and he was pushed directly towards the Young Dragon.

As an experienced adventurer, the bearded man desperately tried to suppress his panic, attempting to reach the Magic Sword at his waist.

But at this moment of life and death, his body completely failed to obey him, as if he had sunk into a quagmire.

Plunder activated!

[You have severely wounded the target, draining 60% of the opponent's Stamina!]

With the Stamina boost, Eugene became even more excited, continuously pushing with his hind legs and squeezing the bearded man's body even harder!

CRUNCH!

[Draining 10%!]

[Draining 10%!]

Armor, bones, internal organs, one by one, shattered.

Next came the ice that bound the Young Dragon!

"Minotaur! How can there be a Minotaur!"

"Brotherrrr!!!"

"Quick, stop it!"

Seeing a few people rushing towards him, Eugene didn't bother to fight. He snatched the bearded man's waist pouch, violently shook his head, and threw the enemy, who was down to his last breath, away.

The few adventurers had no choice but to stop and tend to the bearded man.

ROAR!!

Meanwhile, sensing the restraints loosen, the enraged Young Dragon twisted with all its might, actually shattering the ice crystals and pulling out one of its elephant-like legs.

"Quick, move away!" The few people guarding the bearded man screamed, scattering like birds.

Squish!

Tons of pressure landed with precision, stomping the bearded man's head like a watermelon!

Such a bloody scene is the true face of the Dungeon.

"It's over! It's over!"

"Run for your lives!!"

Having lost their leader, the few people were completely terrified.

They turned and fled.

But the first person to turn was immediately pierced in the back by a cold-gleaming short sword!

Looking at the few people whose hearts were seized by despair, Eugene felt an ultimate sense of exhilaration.

His gaze was cold as a blade.

Murderous intent surged around his entire body.

The hunt has awakened!
