Chapter 37 - I Am His Wife

Su Wen asked another assistant to show them the best women's clothing available. Then, in a calm and dignified tone befitting his "subordinate" act, he said,

"Young master, don't forget to purchase some clothes for your wife. She will be very happy with your love." He intentionally used excuse to buy clothes for wife just as a cover for the disguise.

Du Yue jerked her head toward him.

She stared for a solid second… long enough for Su Wen's palms to start sweating… then nodded wordlessly.

Su Wen released a long breath in relief. If she kept reacting like this, his heart wouldn't last.

Meanwhile, beneath the cloth covering her face, Du Yue's thoughts spiraled into chaos:

'He's buying clothes for me…Did he say wife?

Does he mean me?

He said I'd be happy because of his L-Love?!

He loves me?!

Yes, I am his wife…'

Somehow, she came to this conclusion and if Su Wen were to saw her face right now, he would have choked on his own tongue.

Every drop of blood in her body had migrated to her cheeks… glowing red like a heated spirit furnace.

Du Yue didn't waste time. She picked several dresses in the shade of blue colour, which she liked the most.

Su Wen quietly took note, adding each preference to his mental diary.

To Du Yue, clothing never mattered… but if Su Wen bought it, it instantly became her treasure.

Seeing her choose, Su Wen nodded with a warm smile.

They continued browsing when something suddenly caught Su Wen's eye… a stone, pale green and faintly luminous. For some reason, it drew him in.

The assistant hurried over.

"Sir, this is a Mind-Calming Soul Stone. We don't know its exact origin, but it's very beneficial for mortals."

Su Wen instantly thought of his grandmother.

"Pack it for me."

He said it like a boss and didn't bother asking the price.

Next, he asked for spirit sweets for Little Sparrow. Behind the glass were beautifully coloured candies; knowing the gluttony level of that tiny tyrant, he bought several boxes.

Then he noticed a wine jar… its label carved elegantly: 'Brewed from Low Grade 3 Spirit-Nurturing Grapes'

Su Wen raised a brow. Interesting.

"What's the price?"

"Ten mid-grade spirit stones, sir."

He hesitated for a heartbeat…then bought it anyway.

Du Yue nodded approvingly, looking at him like a noble superior praising a loyal subordinate for good taste.

Suddenly remembering something crucial, Su Wen called another assistant.

"Do you have the latest version of The Legends of Boss Wife drama?"

The assistant brought it within seconds. Su Wen placed it in his ring with an expression of satisfaction.

Now only one thing remained… spirit beast meat.

He led Du Yue back to the ground floor, to the rear section where spirit beast meat was displayed.

There, Su Wen picked several cuts of Peak Grade 2 and Low Grade 3 spirit beast meat… enough to last at least a week.

Finally, after what felt like half a day of chaos, purchases, acting, and emotional damage…

Su Wen had bought everything he came for.

Su Wen finished his shopping just as the assistant who had spoken with Elder Hao hurried over.

"Sir, it's 8 mid-grade spirit stones for the pill and 23 mid-grade spirit stones for the recipe."

Su Wen didn't hesitate. He took out a jade slip, infused the recipe into it, and handed it over.

The assistant accepted it with both hands and then suddenly straightened, as if remembering something important. He took out the jade pendant and handed it over to Su Wen.

"Young master, there is also a message from Elder Hao. He is the one who evaluated your recipe. He said that if young master ever visits the Central Continent, please look for him in the Green Lotus Sect. He would like to personally treat you to wine."

Su Wen glanced toward the corridor behind the man for a second, sensing Elder Hao's aura quietly observing.

"Tell Elder Hao," Su Wen said calmly, "that I will definitely visit him in the future… and when I do, I'd like him to grade the wine I brew myself."

The assistant froze for a moment… amazed but maintaining a professional face.

Meanwhile, Du Yue's heart skipped a beat.

'Central Continent… A place every cultivator dreamed of reaching. And yet the powerful figures there were personally inviting him.

Will he go?

Will he take me with him?

Or will he leave me behind alone…?'

Her mood dipped ever so slightly, but she kept her posture straight and dignified, not showing a trace of her anxiety.

The assistant bowed.

"I will let Elder Hao know. Sir, are you done with your shopping? Do you require any more help?"

"We're done," Su Wen replied. "Just the balance."

"Of course, sir. Your total is thirty-eight mid-grade spirit stones. After subtracting the value of the pill and recipe, you only need to pay seven mid-grade spirit stones."

Su Wen nodded, took out the spirit stones, and passed them over.

The assistant accepted them with both hands, bowed, and stepped back respectfully.

Su Wen stored all the items into his spirit ring, then turned to Du Yue.

"Let's go."

She nodded quietly and followed him out of the Treasure Pavilion with slightly lowered shoulders.

Su Wen and Du Yue stepped out of the Treasure Pavilion and onto the bustling main street of Yellow Town. Vendors shouted about fresh herbs and spirit fruits. Children ran between stalls. The smell of roasted spiritual beast meat drifted in the air, mixing with the sweet scent of honeyed spirit buns.

Du Yue walked quietly beside him. Too quietly. She wasn't fiddling with his sleeves anymore. She wasn't bouncing lightly with excitement. She wasn't even using voice transmission to ask him about things. She just walked… silently. Su Wen noticed it immediately.

He glanced sideways. Du Yue kept her gaze forward, her posture straight… still acting the part of a young master… but the energy around her was different. Her steps were slower. Her fingers tightened around the sleeve of his robe every few minutes, then loosened again.

Su Wen frowned. 'What's wrong with her? Did I do something? Did someone say something? Did the assistant offend her? Or is she missing her family?'

He slowed down slightly. "Hey," he said softly, careful not to break her 'Young Master K' act. "Why do you look so gloomy? Did something happen? Did I say something wrong to you?"

Normally, she would have scoffed, called him childish, or pretended to be offended. But now she only shook her head. "No," she said calmly, too calmly. "Everything is fine."
