Lorraine
Locking herself in her room and listening to the surroundings to make sure no one was coming, Lorraine partially transformed as she knelt down in her room.
The Perihelion is a very important day because not only does it represent the ushering into bountiful harvest and good fortune but it is also the day in which the Goddess's presence is the strongest.
Whispering the ancient words that have been lost due to time, Lorraine prayed to the Goddess Yin.
"I have been doing my assignment as well as I can." Lorraine whispered to her surroundings.
"She is a lot better than when she regained her memories five years ago and she is no longer at risk of harming herself." Lorraine whispered and chimes from little bells filled the room.
"She is far from okay but she is improving." Lorraine whispered and the little bells chimed again in response.
"The bestiae were a nice gift." Lorraine whispered and the bells chimed as if to say "of course".
Princess Marina
The eyes of the statue seemed to glow as Princess Marina knelt in front of it and once Princess Marina raised her head to face the statue, Princess Marina swore that the statue was smiling down at her.
"The Perihelion is a time to reap the harvest." said the high priest of Alvonia.
"The harvest of good fortune, the harvest of bountiful harvest and the renewing of the barrier around the walls of Alvonia." the high priest said as he spread his arms wide.
"Though the Sun of the empire and the Makarios venture out of the walls to reduce the number of the Bestiae, the renewing of the barrier keeps the Bestiae at bay and keeps the citizens of Alvonia safe." the high priest said passionately.
"The Perihelion is also the time to reminisce about the past and the fall of our ancestors to the bestiae.' the high priest said in a solemn tone.
"And the time that the Goddess blessed us with the blessings of the wind, water, earth and fire." the priest said and the crowd cheered.
"The Perihelion is the Goddess's way of saying that she is always with us and now as we wait for the Golden light of the Goddess to descend, I implore you to bow your heads in reverence to the Goddess."
As every body in the congregation bowed their heads, Princess Marina stared at the statue with an unimpressed face.
"Goddesses and their festivals." Princess Marina said with a scoff, as memories of the blue moon festival flooded her mind.
The blue moon festival is as important to Valaria in the same way the Perihelion is important to Alvonia. The blue moon came out once in a hundred years and it was the period where werewolves were at their strongest. With the appearance of the blue moon came the blue moon festival and the saddest thing about the parallels between the blue moon festival and the Perihelion was the wearing of white to honour the Goddess.
Flashback
"Princess Estania." Forestina called and Estania turned around in her white gown with light blue embroidery that made her eyes pop.
"Come down before they notice that you aren't present." Forestina said as she beckoned her quickly.
Laughing at Forestina's panic, Estania ran downstairs with Forestina and easily merged with the crowd.
"Should the future citizens of Valaria be worried that their princess, always manages to come to important events late?" Gale said in a whisper and Estania shoved him.
"I was busy." Estania said, emphasizing each word.
"As always." Gale said in a mocking tone before narrowly missing a punch to his gut.
"When will they grow up?!" Forestina said with a groan as she watched them bicker.
"Not anytime soon." Sal said with a laugh.
Sal laughed as the pair continued bickering but once he noticed that the alpha was about to speak, Sal quickly hushed them.
"As we all know the blue moon is the the night where we are at our strongest. Sight, touch, hearing, smell, everything is pushed to it's limit and we are on with the beast." The Alpha said as his dulyes glowed golden.
"Some wolves find mates that they would have found years later, some are able to tear down mountains with their claws and some get visions from the moon Goddess herself." the Alpha said and the crowd gasped in shock.
"On a night like tonight where emotions run high, I implore you all to do your best to stay out of trouble." the Alpha said and the crowd grumbled.
"But I also implore you to revel in the benefits of being the children of the Moon Goddess." The Alpha said with a smile and the crowd howled.
Flashback end.
"After all the love and devotion, what were we repayed with?" Princess Marina thought sorrowfully.
