The sharp crack of the slap drew everyone's attention from their conversations.
Grace clutched her cheek, shock and rage flashing across her face.
"Mr. Hamilton, you can't just do that." Grey rushed to steady Grace, shooting Jimmy a furious look. "Whatever you think she said wrong, hitting her in front of everyone is out of line!"
Jimmy's eyebrow arched lazily. "Really? When she demanded to rifle through a hero's ashes and sicced airport security on Evelin, where was your moral outrage then?
"Your double standards are fascinating, Mr. Ford."
Grey's face cycled from red to white, and I could see the guilt twisting his features. He looked like a man drowning in regret, likely replaying the airport disaster in his mind.
Grace pressed her stinging cheek, voice tight with pain. "Evelin brought this on herself. If she'd just mentioned her parents were war heroes from the start, none of this would've happened.
