Evelin's POV
I lifted my eyes and stared at him coldly. "I saved your life back then, but I can't call you out now?"
"Grey, if I hadn't pulled you from that river, do you honestly think you'd be standing here arguing with me?"
The thought hit me hard—he probably would've died years ago.
Grey's face shifted. "How did you even find out about me falling in the river and getting hurt? Are you making this up just to trick me into thinking you're my savior?"
His words stunned me. I never saw this coming.
Turns out there's something worse than being ungrateful—refusing to acknowledge the debt at all.
From the second I recognized him as that boy I'd dragged from the water, I never planned to cash in on it. If I had, I wouldn't have stayed quiet all these years.
If he hadn't pushed me to the breaking point at that airport, I might never have mentioned it.
But here he was, convinced I was playing games with his head.
"So you think I'm lying?" The anger made me laugh.
