Evelin's POV
Wallace's words hit me like lightning bolts, each one sending shockwaves through my system.
When he finished talking, tears were already streaming down my cheeks.
I could see Jimmy standing in front of me again, practically begging me not to end things. I remembered him downing those sleeping pills but still lying there wide awake, and that broken expression when he finally gave up on the island.
The tears wouldn't quit coming.
Why couldn't I just forgive him then? The regret was crushing my chest.
He'd sacrificed so much for me, and I was only putting the pieces together now.
"I... I need to see him. I have to get to Jimmy right away." The words came out between sobs, my voice cracking.
Wallace studied me for a long moment. "Alright."
After Wallace left, I opened that jewelry box and stared at the ruby necklace through my tear-soaked vision.
I actually crossed paths with Jimmy way before I realized.
The shock of it all hit me like a wave.
