Evelin's POV
I stood outside room 8101, swiping my keycard until the lock clicked open.
Inside, darkness wrapped around everything except for a thin strip of moonlight sneaking between the curtains, barely lighting the space.
I moved carefully toward the bedroom.
Soon, I'd be face-to-face with Jimmy. All that excitement from the plane ride had twisted into pure anxiety.
'How will he look at me when he sees me?'
My heart hammered against my ribs.
'Will he refuse to even look at me? Or worse...' The thought sent dread crawling through my chest.
I froze in front of the bedroom door.
Decision-making had always come easy to me, but right then, my usual confidence crumbled and I couldn't move.
I stared down at the shut door and sucked in a shaky breath.
The second I reached for the handle, the door burst open—and a gun barrel pressed cold against my forehead.
Through the shadows, that face I knew so well emerged, stealing the air from my lungs.
Jimmy.
