Evelin's POV
I stopped mid-thought. "You don't want to be Rex's younger brother?"
Allen's eyelids drooped slightly. "I only wanted you to treat me like a younger brother."
A soft laugh escaped me, though I didn't press the matter. "Alright then, if you don't want to be, you don't have to."
After a moment's pause, he asked, "And you? Have you always just seen me as your younger brother?"
I studied him, noting how he'd lost that boyish innocence. "Not just a younger brother, but also my comrade."
Even now, with both of us out of service, in my heart we remained comrades-in-arms.
Allen's eyes shifted slightly as he seemed to process what I'd said.
"What about Jimmy? How do you view him?" The question seemed to slip out before he could stop himself.
"Jimmy?" I raised an eyebrow. "Why are you bringing him up?"
"I just wanted to understand how you see him," Allen said.
"He's someone I'm protecting right now," I replied simply.
"That's it?"
"What else would it be?" I asked.
