One hundred meters separated me from the nightmare that was Bonita Creek, the underground werewolf brothel where the most dangerous rogues gathered. Smoke curled through the air, carrying scents that made my stomach churn. I crouched behind twisted oak trees, watching the sickly red glow leak from the alley entrance like poison in the darkness.
At least I wasn't facing this alone.
Max positioned himself to my right, his muscular frame tense beneath crossed arms, his face a mask of controlled fury. Swift flanked my left, his usual cold calculation sharpening his features. Clyde kept adjusting his collar nervously, his gaze darting between the shadows, while Elliott maintained his distance, already strategizing our next move.
