Natalie sat behind her desk, and after finishing her work, she prepared to take a break.
Hearing the knock on the door, she thought it was the manager downstairs who had something to say, but it turned out to be Luis.
In fact, when Natalie saw Luis, it was as if she saw a cousin in her family. She had a very good relationship with that cousin, who had always followed her around when they were young.
That's why she was so kind and gentle to Luis. Otherwise, why would she be so approachable to a stranger? Even some of the company's managers felt that Natalie was too aloof.
When she saw Luis come in, she frowned. When she came out of the elevator in the morning, she noticed that Luis looked very pale and weak. He was fine before getting on the elevator, but he changed after coming out.
She asked him at the time, but he was unwilling to answer, so she didn't bother to ask any further. After all, Luis just looked like her cousin, but he wasn't actually her cousin.
But now, seeing Luis, he seems even weaker; his lips have lost all color.
"Please sit down." Natalie stood up and gestured for Luis to sit on the sofa.
"What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell? If you are, I'll approve your leave so you can go to the hospital to get checked out." Natalie thought Luis had come to her to ask for leave.
"Mrs. Natalie, I'm not feeling unwell, but you won't approve my leave even if I ask you." Luis sighed, looking into Natalie eyes with sincerity and worry on his face.
"What is that?" Natalie frowned. Why was she being called upon if the leave wasn't approved?
"Mrs. Natalie, I wonder if you've ever had your fortune told?" Luis replied, seemingly unrelated to the question.
Natalie was taken aback. Fortune telling?
She knew that, as she was also from a wealthy family. The elders in her family were very willing to believe in this. The higher one's social status, the more they knew about it, and they preferred to believe it rather than not.
"No." Natalie didn't understand what Luis was trying to say, so she said this and waited quietly for him to speak.
"Your Family must believe in this, right?" Luis continued to guide her.
"Yeah, Somewhat." Natalie was getting a little impatient. She was very familiar with this kind of conversation; it was meant to gradually deepen the person being questioned's understanding and arouse their curiosity.
If Luis didn't look like her cousin, she probably would have kicked him out already.
Luis heart skipped a beat when he saw Natalie's sudden impatience. He coughed forcefully to make himself appear even weaker.
He's still too inexperienced. Whether in his past life or now, he's never dealt with people in high positions. Although he's intelligent and emotionally intelligent, he hasn't truly experienced many things, so relying solely on his own intuition is impossible.
His original plan was to gradually pique Natalie's curiosity and then unveil his mysterious veil step by step, so that Natalie would believe him. However, he never considered what would happen if she did not follow his plan.
Seeing Luis face grow even paler, Natalie's expression softened. She leaned forward slightly, looking like she was listening.
"Luis, just say what's on your mind. I'm listening. I won't blame you if you say something wrong."
Luis sighed silently, "It's like this, Mrs. Natalie. When you came out of the elevator this morning, you asked me why my complexion suddenly turned so bad. I didn't tell you at the time because I saw something you couldn't see."
Natalie remained expressionless, but her eyes clearly changed, and she leaned her upper body even more heavily.
"Go on."
"Actually, I studied under a reclusive teacher. I didn't come to work yesterday because I'd just finished my training. People from our tradition have a special ability to glimpse certain things about the future."
"In other words, what most people would call fortune telling." As he spoke, Luis watched Natalie's expression and noticed her growing interest.
"So you're saying you tried to read my fortune in the elevator, and it backfired on you?" Natalie asked with a teasing smile.
Luis shook his head, knowing that Natalie was already laughing at him in her heart. Hidden sects, indeed. In this society, there are no hidden sects. They are all just swindlers.
"No," Luis shook his head. "Fortune telling won't cause any backlash, but telling fortunes for others without permission will consume some of my energy, which is why you thought I looked unwell when you saw me."
"Mrs. Natalie, you are very lucky. Whether it is wealth or fortune, you are blessed with the best. I guess your current assets should not be less than 10 million."
Only now did Luis bring up a topic that shocked Natalie.
Natalie was somewhat surprised and uncertain. She came to Briston to work in order to escape her ex-husband's harassment. No one knew her identity. Her car was just an ordinary Audi A4, and her clothes cost few thousand a set.
Such an outfit would suit a vice president of a small company, but Luis said her assets were no less than 10 million dollars, and he said it with such certainty that it didn't seem like a test at all. She trusted her judgment; Luis must have received some information.
"You investigated me?" This was Natalie's first reaction, her voice somewhat cold.
Luis shook his head again, "Mrs. Natalie, I don't know you, and I don't know what your background is. This is indeed what I calculated, and I also calculated that at 2:21 today, you will lose more than 2 million."
"Impossible!" Natalie immediately retorted.
"Mrs. Natalie, don't rush to refute. Actually, you can think about whether anything has been amiss lately. After all, more than 2 million is not a small amount. And I can also tell you that more than 2 million is not in cash. Some of it is in cash and some is in fixed assets. It's almost 1 p.m. now, and there's still an hour and a half before things are settled. You have plenty of time to confirm it, don't you?"
"Besides, given your understanding of me, what ability do you think I have to find out about your background? Before this, I was just an ordinary person."
Luis was certain that Natalie had assets of no less than 10 million because the losses showed that someone who could invest more than 2 million plus some fixed assets would have no less than 10 million.
The future that Luis sees will tell him how much money Natalie lost, when the loss occurred, and whether it was cash or fixed assets. However, he cannot see how the loss occurred; otherwise, Luis could have told Natalie directly.
Just like the girl back then, he saw the time and the amount of her financial loss, but he didn't know that it was caused by someone else robbing her.
Only through changes in fortune can one roughly guess some things.
However, Natalie's luck has not changed much in the past three months, so the loss of more than 2 million should not have any impact on her in the near future.
