Chapter 13 - You Are Fired

Checking other people's fortunes twice in one morning was quite difficult for Luis at the moment, so he closed his eyes and quickly fell into a deep sleep.

While he was sleeping, he felt as if a warm current suddenly flowed through his body, warm and comforting, and his mental fatigue was instantly washed away.

He woke up immediately, but remained slumped over the table.

With his eyes closed, he tried to concentrate on exploring the warm current, but in the illusion, he found himself in a dark world.

Without anyone telling him, Luis knew that this was deep within his mind. At this moment, in the darkness, a ball of energy the size of a sesame seed was emitting a faint light.

The light shone brightly, and he felt incredibly energetic, as if he could examine other people's fortunes four or five times without getting tired.

After combining the fortune teller's knowledge with his own thoughts, he immediately understood that the sesame-seed-sized energy was the fortune teller's (Mana) spiritual power.

It can be used to explore or modify other people's fortunes. This energy can only be fed back to oneself through fortune if it causes a huge change in someone's future.

It seems that the energy just now was a response to helping Natalie.

Previously, Luis had not received any feedback on spiritual energy, and exploring fortune always consumed his own spiritual power, so he would feel exhausted after each exploration.

Things are different now. Once the mental energy in your mind is depleted, it won't have any impact on your mental state.

Having figured everything out, he had a clearer understanding of his fortune-telling abilities. After all, he had only acquired the abilities for a short time, and there were many things he needed to explore and discover gradually.

Soon it was afternoon and he started work.

Most people woke up groggily, washed their faces in the restroom, and then returned to their workstations to start working.

Luis rubbed his face, a smile appearing on his lips. Natalie's feedback had arrived even before the incident had occurred, indicating that she had chosen to believe him.

Now, it was just a matter of waiting to see what her decision would be.

But before Natalie could arrive, a well-dressed middle-aged man with a slicked-back hairstyle walked over and slammed a document onto the seat in front of Luis.

With a loud "smack!", everyone's attention was drawn to the scene. Angler, sitting to the side, smiled smugly and looked at Luis with a gloating expression.

"Luis! What's wrong with you! Do you even want to work anymore? You went to work without explanation yesterday! What was that proposal I asked you to revise? It's just scribbles and I don't understand a thing!"

This man was Supervisor Arnold. Yesterday, Luis went to see a doctor without asking him for leave, so he started to dislike Luis.

Having managed the planning department for so long, no one had ever dared to be absent without reason. In fact, whether or not someone came to work was irrelevant to him. It was just that the fact that they didn't ask for leave from him made him feel like his subordinates were about to rebel.

Adding to the fact that Angler had snitched on him today, Angler had also secretly altered a proposal that Luis had written a few days ago, handing it to him in a messy state. Upon seeing this proposal, he immediately became furious.

He decided to teach Luis a lesson.

Luis glanced coldly at Angler and Arnold, knowing they were deliberately trying to cause trouble.

Without even looking at the proposal, he stood up and said calmly, "I know my own proposal well. My planning ability is among the top three in the entire company. If my proposal is just scribbles, then Angler's proposal is probably not even worth mentioning."

"Supervisor Arnold didn't go looking for trouble with others, but came to me. Does he have a problem with me?"

Arnold was used to being arrogant and domineering in the company.

Even if he thought that Luis, who was usually timid, dared to talk back, he wouldn't think too much about it.

He took a step back, raised his head and looked at Luis, who was almost a head taller than him, "You still say that your planning ability is among the top three in the company? Why don't you take a piss and look in the mirror? Open your eyes and take a good look at what kind of crap you wrote."

"I have a problem with you right now, what can you do about it! You were a miner yesterday, and you're not doing your job well today. What's wrong with me scolding you? I could fire you and you wouldn't have a chance to say anything!" Arnold said fiercely.

Angler's heart skipped a beat when he heard the battle suddenly shift to him, but he breathed a sigh of relief when Arnold didn't seem to care.

He then sneered, "Yeah, jobs aren't so easy to find these days. With your abilities, you won't get such a high salary if you leave the company. You probably won't even earn three thousand dollars. How will you support your girlfriend then?"

The others watched coldly from the sidelines, treating it as a show. No one helped Luis, and no one offered any advice. Some even showed gloating smiles.

"Angler always rushes to submit my proposals. If there's a problem with the proposal, it's definitely because he changed it without my permission. We should investigate things before barking like dogs! Everyone in the company knows what you're capable of. All you do is boss people around."

"Arnold, you want to fire me? I don't want to work here anymore. As for you, Angler, I'm not working here anymore, and you can forget about working here either. You'd better watch your step when you go out in the future."

As he spoke, Luis revealed a sinister smile.

"What did you say!" Arnold couldn't believe Luis dared to curse him to his face. "You've gone too far! Get out of here right now! You're fired!"
