Miserable would be putting it lightly. After that confrontation, everything spiraled into something far worse than I could have imagined.
Caleb refused to acknowledge my existence. No words, no glances, nothing. The silence between us cut deeper than any argument we'd ever had.
Weeks passed with zero progress on finding Cornelia or Griffin. Her university confirmed she hadn't attended a single lecture. When I contacted Harlow, desperation driving me to reach out to anyone who might know something, she delivered the same crushing news. Worse, she made it clear that if any harm came to Cornelia, she'd hold me personally accountable.
London yielded nothing. I turned that city upside down searching for any trace of her, but came up empty-handed. It was as if she had simply ceased to exist.
Vince had vanished just as completely. No trail, no breadcrumbs, nothing. The same applied to Trina, Pierce, and that bastard Griffin. Every lead went cold before it even warmed up.
