Not long after Custer had walked outside his tent, the people of the clan gathered around him. The men questioned why it took so long for the women's treatment, but passing the question onto the women, the fiend watched them struggle to explain before agreeing that they were all nervous and the checkup took longer because of their own mistakes in answering some questions.
Although not entirely convinced, the men took the answer as the truth for the time being. And not seconds after, the chieftain walked in front of Custer with a neutral expression on his face. With folded hands, he stared at him without uttering a word. Take a deep and clear breath instead. He heaved his first clear sigh after months of suffering through the bloodroot parasite.
"Your cure, it seems to be working," he spoke with a brief smile taking over his lips.
