October - Midterm Week
If the first month of college was challenging, midterms week was hell.
I'd pulled three all-nighters in five days. My eyes felt like sandpaper. I'd consumed enough coffee to power a small city. And I still had two exams left.
"You look terrible," Maya said helpfully at breakfast.
"Thanks. Very supportive."
"I'm just being honest. Kai, tell her she looks terrible."
Kai, who looked equally terrible, just grunted and poured more coffee.
"You both need sleep," Maya continued, somehow the most functional person in our apartment despite being twelve. "This is unhealthy."
"After tomorrow," I promised. "Last exam is tomorrow afternoon."
"Then we're sleeping for a week," Kai added.
"You say that every semester," Maya said wisely, sounding far too much like Aunt Maria.
She wasn't wrong. But first, I had to survive Biology and Chemistry midterms.
