Having literally just gotten a visit from his parents, the last thing that Deacon had been expecting was for his father to call him so soon after leaving. At first he had wanted to ignore the call, thinking that perhaps his father had dialled him mistakenly. But upon thinking better of it, Deacon had decided that it was best to answer either way.
Wary of disturbing the Slater siblings with the call, instead of remaining downstairs and taking it, he had headed to his study to answer. A decision which had turned out to be a good one. Since accepting the call, Deacon had been listening to his father rant.
Several long minutes had passed, and yet the man had not disclosed what exactly it was that had him nearly losing his mind.
"After all of the hard work I put into raising you. The best schools, the best tutors, you go and make such a monumental mistake…" Was his father still talking about the marriage?
It did not seem to be so.
