Once upon a time Haley would have been thrilled to have a surprise visit from any of her sisters. But such a time was so far in the past that sometimes she wondered if she had imagined it.
Now, Haley knew that there was a small chance that Emily had just come to see her because she wanted to. That there was no ulterior motive behind the visit. But just because they had grown distant over the years, it did not mean that Haley did not know her own sister.
And if there was one thing that her sister was not good at, it was being subtle. Even if Emily had not come right after Mr and Mrs Roth, who had very obviously been trying to snoop. Haley still would have been suspicious of her sister.
The trick that she had pulled with the glass of water (which was very similar to what Haley herself had done a bit earlier), would have tipped Haley off.
Now as they stood facing each other, with Emily wearing one of Haley's blouses, she was not holding back as she grilled her sister.
