Chapter 5 - Safety First When Traveling

Half a month later, in a mountain forest, the mountains rose and fell, the forest was vast and boundless, and even the roars of wild beasts could be heard from the depths.

laugh!

With a single cleaver, several streams of blood gushed out, and a brown bear lay dead on the spot. Sparks flew, a large pot was set up, water was boiled, and the feast began.

"Old Niu, how about my peerless axe technique?" Chen Xun flicked his axe and looked at the big black ox.

Moo!

The big black ox gave a perfunctory moo as it dug at the ground with its hooves to cover the bloodstains. When you're out and about, safety comes first.

"This is truly inhuman power."

Chen Xun clenched his fists, repeatedly exclaiming that he had knocked a brown bear unconscious with a single punch, breaking several of its ribs.

A man and a cow sat around the pot, enjoying their meal. Wild beef was so fragrant and delicious.

"Old Niu, although we have superhuman strength, you saw it too, damn it, there are cultivators among them."

Chen Xun ate a bear paw and clicked his tongue, saying, "Don't be impulsive when things happen. Those seemingly insignificant people may actually be some kind of old monster."

Moo.

The big black ox responded that it understood and ate with relish.

"Even if we kill a chicken in the wild, we must destroy the body and leave no trace for others."

"Moo?"

"Because there might be a flock of chickens behind him, and they'll find us by their scent."

"Moo?"

The big black bull still didn't understand. A piece of meat fell out of its mouth, and it quickly picked it up from the ground with its mouth.

"So what if a bunch of chickens come? Just kill them!" Chen Xun sneered, his mouth full of grease.

"Moo." The big black ox nodded.

"What if these chickens were raised by cultivators?"

Chen Xun said inscrutably, "Are they going to come looking for trouble again?"

"Moo!"

"If we defeat those cultivators again, will their master come looking for trouble with us again?"

"Moo! Moo!" The big black ox was stunned; it made perfect sense.

"In the end, a war between sects might break out over a chicken. How many people can we fight?"

Chen Xun raised an eyebrow, tearing at the bear meat. "If we were to get killed by accident, how many heifers would we have to sacrifice?"

"Moo!~~"

The big black ox understood, and its big, bright eyes, like copper bells, looked at Chen Xun with admiration that flowed like a never-ending river.

"This child is teachable."

Chen Xun smiled approvingly, saying he loved Da Hei Niu's expression. "So in the future, be careful in everything you do, and don't be careless at all."

"Moo!" The big black ox nodded.

"So here's the question."

Chen Xun's expression turned serious, and he said, "If a heifer confronts a cultivator over a spiritual herb, and a great battle is about to break out, how should we handle it?"

"Answer one: It is my duty to save the damsel in distress; who else but me?"

"Answer two: Stand with the stronger party, bully the weak, and protect yourself."

"Answer three: Pretend nothing happened, pass by quietly, and avoid getting involved in the cause and effect."

"Answer four: With me invincible, everyone must die, and the elixir is mine."

Please answer.

Chen Xun's deep pupils stared at the big black ox, who was sweating slightly. What a difficult question.

The black bull's eyes showed struggle; how could he stand by and watch his heifer fall into enemy hands? He made a decision in his heart: "Moo!"

"Answer one? Wrong!"

Chen Xun sneered, "How can a heifer compete with a cultivator? If you rush forward, you'll only become another corpse."

"Moo, moo."

"Choosing number two is a huge mistake."

Chen Xun narrowed his eyes slightly and explained, "You already know that you are competing for spiritual herbs. The more people who know, the greater the risk. Once cultivators have eliminated their enemies, they won't spare you."

The black bull's pupils contracted, and cold sweat poured down its back. It had already died twice: "Moo, moo, moo!"

"Hahaha, choosing number three is a huge mistake."

Chen Xun laughed arrogantly, his eyes filled with coldness. "There are no laws in this world. Without strength, you can never be sure if you will be discovered. They will only kill you at the same time, thinking you are a lucky swindler."

Black Bull went limp, trembling with fear at Chen Xun's presence, and let out a heavy snort as it puffed on the ground: "Moo, moo, moo, moo!"

"I didn't expect you to choose answer four."

Chen Xun slowly stood up, a shadow looming over his face. The big black ox suddenly felt incredibly small, and it went limp with fear. Had it died again...?

"congratulations..."

"Moo?!"

Upon hearing this, the big black bull suddenly felt his strength returning, his four legs gradually lifted up, and hope ignited in his eyes. Could it be that he was finally right and was about to be resurrected?

Chen Xun's pupils slowly widened as he looked down at the big black bull and laughed in a low voice, "You've chosen the most gruesome way to die, old bull, die!"

Moo~~!

The big black ox's pupils dilated, and with a thud, a cloud of dust rose as he collapsed to the ground, realizing he had been completely wrong...

After a while, Black Bull realized something was wrong. Why were all the answers wrong? The more it thought about it, the more suspicious it became. Looking at Chen Xun, who was still eating bear paws, it realized it had fallen into a trap!

Moo!!

"Holy crap..."

Chen Xun was instantly propelled into the sky, still tightly gripping the bear paw in his hand. He felt the wind and... saw a group of people fighting in the distance.

His eyes narrowed, and his legs landed firmly, creating two large craters. The big black bull ate the bear meat and drank the soup with gusto, showing that it had no intention of leaving Chen Xun any chance.

"Old Niu, hurry up and get ready, there's a fight going on in the distance," Chen Xun said seriously, patting it on the shoulder.

Moo!

Big Black Ox replied. Chen Xun never joked when he showed this expression. They packed the meat, dug a hole and dug soil to quickly cover up the traces with skillful technique.

Chen Xun led the big black ox, like a farm boy, silently walking in the opposite direction without saying a word.

Looking down from the sky, three figures passed through the trees, making rustling sounds. Chen Xun and Black Bull strolled leisurely below, their eyes lifeless and unremarkable.

A figure suddenly stopped, his black hair flowing behind him, and he squinted at the young man.

"Wait a minute."

A sound came from the tree, and Chen Xun tensed up. The black ox's panting gradually subsided, and its hooves were poised to pounce.

The man jumped down from the tree, looked Chen Xun up and down, and asked, "Can you see what's happening ahead?"

Chen Xun was startled, his face breaking out in a cold sweat. He cupped his hands and said, "Greetings, senior. What is it...?"

He couldn't tell whether the person was a cultivator or a martial arts master, nor did he know how many people were nearby, so playing it safe was the best course of action.

The man glanced at Chen Xun's hands; they had no calluses, indicating he was not a martial artist. He then said, "Understood. Leave the ox here."

This big black ox has a large, round, and thick build; its flesh and blood are very beneficial to those who practice martial arts.

"Senior… I only have one cow. You look like a martial arts master. There's no need for you to come here specifically to steal my cow."

Chen Xun's face was grim, his fingers trembled slightly, but his expression and movements were absolutely spot-on.

bass.

The man drew his sword, his gaze sharp, and sneered, "My esteemed Hundred Mysteries Sect has not stooped to this level. I do not wish to waste any more words."

"Sigh, alright." Chen Xun put down the ox rope, looking at the big black ox with a lost expression, thinking to himself that he was indeed not a cultivator.

The man took the rope and suddenly laughed, "Actually, you see, this isn't a place for grazing cattle."

"Your behavior is suspicious; you can only blame your bad luck."

With his back to the black ox, the man said to Chen Xun, "I have seen through everything. This man is very likely a spy."
