Sally's POV
Sean's words ease the knot in my chest, bringing a sense of calm I desperately need.
I nod slowly, fighting back the tears threatening to spill.
"I don't know where to begin."
"Then don't start yet." Sean's voice carries a steadiness that grounds me. "Just exist in this moment."
I glance toward the living room where Warren's giggles mix with Karl's warm laughter. That sound should fill the empty spaces inside me. It does help, but when I look back at Sean, there's an undercurrent between us. A quiet pull. Different from the intensity I feel with Philip or Karl, but equally real.
"You always know exactly what to say," I whisper, half accusing, mostly thankful.
He lifts one shoulder. "Part of the job."
"What job is that?" My voice comes out softer than intended.
His gaze holds mine longer than it should. "Caring about you."
