Sally's POV
"I was unfair to you," I breathe out, my voice barely audible in the quiet room. "Before everything went wrong. I felt terrified and lost. I disappeared without giving you any explanation, and then I kept thinking... what if the final memory you had of me was me pushing you away?"
Philip's forehead creases, though his grip on my hand grows stronger.
"Are you pushing me away now, Sally? Because I can still feel your kiss," his voice trembles slightly. "That didn't seem like rejection to me."
"I witnessed you that morning, Phil... out in the forest... with Ajax," I confess.
Philip draws in a sharp breath, then grimaces in pain.
