Todd's POV
I checked the clock. Just past three in the morning—still hours until sunrise.
Sallie had been a wreck over Levi these past few days, but this was insane timing to visit.
I wanted to tell her to rest and wait for daylight, but the desperation in her eyes stopped me cold.
'Same hospital, not far. Maybe a quick visit will calm her down,' I reasoned.
But the second we stepped into the hallway, a nurse rushed toward us, face white with terror. "S-Something's wrong with Levi."

Sallie's POV
The words hit me like a sledgehammer. My vision blurred, legs giving out, but Todd caught me before I could fall.
Before he could speak, I shoved his hands away and bolted from the room.
Levi was already in surgery by the time I arrived. The bodyguard stood by the door, pale as death. When he spotted me, his head dropped in shame. "M-Ms. Isabelle."
