Sallie's POV
I had no clue about Todd's past or what he'd endured, but I trusted every word that came from his lips.
The thought struck me—am I really the only person he has left? Where was his family?
I kept my questions to myself. Instead, I tracked down the cemetery manager and purchased the plot Todd had requested. Afterward, I arranged for Andy's name to be carved into a headstone beside my own burial site.
These souls had left nothing behind except names etched in stone. Maybe that was their final proof of having existed at all.
Apart from Andy's grave, I left the others untouched. I hadn't yet fulfilled what I'd promised them.
Only Todd and I knew about those burial sites. It became our shared secret, and once we walked away from that place, neither of us brought it up again.
This was the first favor I'd ever asked of him, so Todd went all out to handle the arrangements. His schedule became packed in the days that followed.
