Sallie's POV
When I finally spoke, Todd smiled with satisfaction. He said, "Sure, just say what you need me to do."
I looked at his sincere expression and suddenly felt a little awkward. Clearing my throat, I said, "I want to borrow some money."
Todd was taken aback. "What?"
Asking for money was always uncomfortable, especially since I needed a lot. And I knew neither Todd nor I was exactly well-off these days.
However, after seeing Mandy and her grandma's graves, I felt I had to do something. I gathered my thoughts and said, "I probably can't pay you back quickly. I can do installments, with interest at-"
"Have you ever checked the bank card I gave you?"
Todd interrupted, sounding frustrated. "I put money in there every month-rent, necessities, and what I owe you for saving me. It's all yours."
He didn't have nearly as much left over as I earned from one art job. He honestly couldn't lend me money.
