Cloe caught my sour expression and brought up something else. "You know why Salome can't stand you? Even when she knows the Fay family doesn't have near the power the Noah family does, and her dad practically ordered her to kiss up to you, she still despises you."
I'd never bothered thinking about it before—too proud to waste brain cells on Salome.
Cloe wasn't waiting for an answer anyway. She had too much poison in her system and needed to spit it out. "Salome hates you because you're Stormhaven's golden girl, the spoiled Noah princess everyone worships."
The thought had never crossed my mind.
