Sallie's POV
Even from across the room, I could see Salome catch my smile. A flicker of worry crossed her face, and satisfaction coursed through me.
Before Salome could process what was happening, the host's voice rang out. "Let's welcome Ms. Fay to give us a detailed introduction to the project."
The spotlight found Salome, catching the fear she tried to hide behind a forced smile as she walked onto the stage.

The Fay family had been preparing for this charity dinner for weeks, and Kemp had specifically chosen her to present the project.
She'd rehearsed her speech countless times, feeling completely prepared. But now, standing under the bright lights, all she could think about was Sallie's knowing smirk.
What was that smile about? Had Sallie done something? Was this some kind of trap?
