Sallie's POV
The evidence was undeniable - witness accounts backed up by hard proof. Salome collapsed like a house of cards, crashing to the floor.
'I destroyed everything, even torched that damn diary. How the hell is there still evidence?' she wondered frantically.
Salome's gaze darted around the room, taking in the Sterlings' stone-cold expressions, Kemp's look of pure horror, and the sea of judgmental faces surrounding her.
She felt completely exposed, like she'd been thrown naked into a packed street for everyone to gawk at.
The shame was crushing. 'I'm finished, totally finished,' Salome thought, drowning in despair.
Her eyes swept across the crowd and locked onto me standing nearby. She must have remembered the slight smile that crossed my lips right before she'd taken the stage. 'It has to be her...' Salome's mind raced.
Somehow, Salome managed to haul herself upright. She stumbled as she jumped down from the platform.
