New York city, first university
It's been a strange semester for the second year students, a lot of classes had been cancelled due to the sudden unpredictable weather changes.
A young man was sitting on a chair in an empty classroom, he had black hair, handsome facial features, red eyes that seemed to add a certain charm to his expressionless face
"This weather is annoying" William complained lightly as he looked through the window the sight of snow drops was soothing but he couldn't appreciate the beauty slightly due to the irritation he felt.
For the past year the weather had become absurd
Deserts were flooded with all kinds of storms, unexplainable weather changes and that was not all.
Even icy places like Antarctica began to thaw overnight only to freeze the next day as temperatures plummeted again.
Scientists simply had no way of explaining this strange phenomenon, however as a consequence of this all major nations of the world practically forced the smaller nations to be careful with pollution, attributing everything to the malfunction in the planet's ozone layer
Now even of the sun shine brightly people still carried extra clothing,fearing a sudden snow storm.
"As if this wasn't enough, that idiot made me come to class in this damn snow." William snorted, he had come to this empty class cause his first and only friend had told him he had something important to discuss.
Growing up he had always been a lone wolf, dumped in front of an orphanage as a baby even his name was given to him by the head of the orphanage, fitting in was hard so he stopped trying. Even when the bullying started he'd just stare at them with those cold emotionless eyes, that all changed the day Adam walked through the orphanage doors, he managed to keep his sunny personality despite his parents death, though William could clearly see he was trying to be strong for his sister
While a little sad about their plight, he didn't really care much, while he continued to mind his business Adam and his sister seemed to gravitate towards him, a pest he couldn't get rid of no matter what he did, eventually he gave up and they had been inseparable ever since even getting the admission to study in the same university.
" Wonder what he has to tell me .."As William was thinking to himself, a voice rang out in the classroom " I worry for you bro, how are you going to ever get a girlfriend with such a dead look." Rolling his eyes as he looked towards the door there stood Adam with a smug grin on his face. With his blond hair and green eyes Adam was the perfect example of a lady killer the total opposite of William, so while William had zero social presence and had a bit of popularity being the captain of the school javelin team .
" You better a very good reason for calling me out in the cold." William asked with evident annoyance. Adam laughed ignoring his tone.
" Patience is a virtue you my friend don't have."
Just as Adam took his seat, the sky suddenly darkened as the earth shook fiercely as things moved from their places. William held on to the table tightly to prevent himself from falling.
William felt strange as if the world had been inverted as if all the air had been pulled from his lungs, as he struggled to breathe his face turned pale and he had the urge to vomit, barely stopping himself
After about thirty seconds, everything seemed to return to normal. Things stopped moving, the few ornaments threatening to fall no longer did.
The heavy and suffocating sensation felt a few seconds ago disappeared and the cold coming in through the now broken window embraced his body.
" What the hell was th." William suddenly stopped halfway, as silence descended in the with only the sound of howling winds, however he could longer worry about the cold, the shitty weather, or the previous earthquake.

"What is this?" he whispered to himself as he read the strange gold messages that had appeared in front of him.

William's body was slim but under his clothes were hidden lean but compact muscles due to his constant work as well as training.
Considering that the numbers in brackets shown in his status window was the base for a regular human being, the condition of his body was quite normal except for the health stat which was down due to the cold.
"Magic!.'he looked at the screen in front of him with bright eyes, a word only associated with fantasy novels and movies now appeared in this strange window that seemed to display everything about him.
" Hheyyy! I'm not the only one seeing this right?" whispered Adam with a shaky voice.
before he could even respond, several sounds and cries coming from outside caught their attention as they moved towards the window to see what was happening
Outside,the whole world they knew had changed and what he saw was more like a scene pulled from an apocalyptic movie, no longer the same thing he saw just a few minutes ago.
People were running, screaming and begging in despair as they tried with all their strength to get away from other people. However the scariest thing was that there were many people feasting on others as if they were beasts.
"Help!!"
A pretty girl was running for her life as she looked behind her, attempting to get as far away as possible from this strange people. She tripped and fell to the ground.
"Look out!." Adam screamed out in horror as he backed away from the window.
One of those strange people, with its bloody mouth, caught the girl and fiercely bit her leg, making her scream in pain.
"Save me" the young girl cried painfully as she tried to escape. Her face was truly pitiful, unfortunately for her none of the people running for safety bothered trying to help her as they were trying to save their own skin. Soon the girl stopped moving. However a few moments later, the girl stood up and began to move slowly as she went after the noise.
Seeing this William completely turned pale as he realized that this strange ppl were practically zombies from the walking dead series.
"What is that.." William was shocked as he saw a strange creature that looked like a bat but covered in red mist the size of two fists fly towards a zombie. The zombie wasn't even able to react as the bat directly tore through its head and killing it, the bat seemed to have eaten something in the zombie head as it's body seemed to grow a few inches before it stopped.
As if sensing something, it left the corpse and charged straight towards building complex.
"Watch out." Adam's voice came from behind. William's face changed as he saw the creature charge towards him. Its speed was really fast and in just a few moments it had crossed the window, aiming for his head.
Reacting on instinct, his left hand shot out immediately closing the iron burglary trapping the creature halfway. He immediately reached for a chair, hitting the stuck insect on the head, successfully killing it. A gold colored orb shot out of the giant bat's body and entered his body.

Two messages flashed before William's eyes. He was surprised to discover how that strange energy seemed to strengthen his muscles and bones, making his body more powerful.
"What in god's name is happening? What kind of bat grows that big?!.' Adam asked with panic in his voice, he had seen the big bat try to tear his friend's head off.
"I know about as much as you do, but I think we should keep a cool head. Panicking is not going to help out here." William said as he moved towards the dead bat. Crouching down to check the corpse, he found a scroll shining besides it.
