Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Finally, the Subway Surfer game was done.

After taking screenshots of the in-game visuals and recording some gameplay, he immediately published the game and went to cook dinner.

Elsewhere, Cecilia known as Cecily was a streamer, but like many streamers, her looks and persona online didn't match her real-life self at all.

In another world, she would be like a VTuber.

Online, she appeared calm and composed, and her avatar reflected that perfectly. She had long, straight violet hair, fluffy wolf-like ears, and a mature-looking face.

In reality, she was a college graduate with a baby face who loved playing games. She became well-known for her skills in shooting games and for a personality that attracted both women and men, who often complimented her gameplay and presence.

In truth, it was because she lost a bet and got the red card, turning into a soldier overnight. Now, with real combat experience, her skills naturally carried over into shooting games.

In this world, whether you were a man or a woman, you were required to train as a soldier at least once.

After the wars with alien species, humans gradually developed genes and a culture that encouraged military training as part of life.

She was lucky that no wars or space conflicts broke out during her training period.

Now, the only thing she had to worry about was choosing what game to play for her livestream.

In recent years, there hadn't been any breakthrough games, and she was getting bored of the repetitive, formulaic titles.

Even the most famous game designers hadn't published anything worth looking forward to.

With a sigh, she looked at the list of newly released games.

She immediately skipped anything with alien or war themes. As she continued scrolling, her slender hand stopped mid air.

There, she saw a logo that looked different from the others — distinctive and cartoonish.

It showed a teenager holding a spray can, grinning at the camera with a railway in the background.

She raised her eyebrows.

Its name was Subway Surfer.

"What a weird name."

It looked interesting, and she clicked on it right away.

She examined the photos and in-game footage. The visual style stood out — a blend of 2D and 3D with a cartoonish tone.

Unlike other games, which were filled with blood, aliens, and shooter themes, this art style was refreshingly easy on the eyes.

She looked at the description, and it was easy to understand what you needed to do in the game.

"You just run and avoid obstacles while being chased?" She had no idea how the game actually worked.

She glanced at the creator and saw the logo a glowing blue and white sphere floating in the darkness, resembling a planet.

For the game designer, the avatar was a chibi bear, looking so adorable that it made her pause.

It was a stark contrast to the usual game designers she'd seen, who typically used professional avatars and tried to show off.

She turned back to the Subway Surfer logo.

She still had doubts about the game, but since it was free to play, she clicked and downloaded it.

It didn't even take a minute to install.

Cecilia immediately started her stream to check out the game, and within seconds, 100 viewers flooded in.

[Hello Cecily!! I missed youu!!]

[It's been a while, Cecily!]

[We thought you quit streaming since you haven't updated much.]

She gave an awkward smile, "Sorry, sorry… I had a family meeting last week."

The real reason she hadn't been online much was that she was getting bored with the games available.

[Ohh, that's good to know!!]

[What are you gonna play today, Cecily?]

[FPS? I heard there's a new FPS made by a popular game designer this week!!]

[Shooter game again? How about the horror game made by the new developer?]

[Horror games are a niche now! FPS is better.]

[NO, it's just the same formula over and over again.]

[Don't fight, guys…]

The chat was arguing, but Cecily silently agreed with the comments.

FPS and horror games had become repetitive, just copy paste concepts with no real innovation.

Everyone across the different planets in the interstellar network knew its entertainment was starting to feel stale.

She offered comfort and relaxed the viewers before showcasing what she had found.

"What I'm going to play today is Subway Surfer!"

She immediately showed the interface of Subway Surfer.

[What's that??]

[Never heard of it before…]

[I found it! Subway Surfer is about running??]

[It's about getting chased by an inspector and his dog. You just need to avoid obstacles and collect items.]

[Erm… well, at least it's a new concept.]

Cecily had the same thoughts as these comments, but as an entertainer, she wouldn't say it bluntly.

Who knows?

The game designer could be watching her stream and blocklist her — knowing how arrogant some game designers could be, she wasn't going to take that risk.
