Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Three days has passed since the incident took place, Vivian is still nowhere to be found and words has been sent out to other packs of the vampires invasion/attack. Pack members that chose to settle outside the pack because of work or because their mates are humans have moved back into the pack for safety reasons. These adjustments were made by the Alpha himself even tho he was still grieving, he chose to be strong for the well-being of his pack and the two little ones under his care. Words has been sent to the Peace Supernatural Council ( PSC for short) about the incident but no reply has been received. The death of his mom and beloved Aunt has greatly changed little Dan, he became detached and quite preferring to stay alone most especially in his room. Violet is still having difficulty processing the incident and the changes around her. Aurelia chose to keep the fact that she was a wolf from her kids because situations like a wolf and a human giving birth to a nonwolf offspring often occurs that's why she chose to reside outside the pack.

"We are all gathered here today in honor of our Luna Laura, our dear friend Aurelia and her husband Edward. Their departure was unexpected and huge surprise to us all. They were good people....they were family and they have served and impacted the pack in many ways. May their souls rest in perfect peace, let the ritual rights begin " Evan said after honouring the dead. The pack shaman moved forward holding four alive rabbits in a cage lifting them towards the full moon.

"(Chanting inaudibly) By the name of the moon goddess I hereby set you free to join the moon goddess in the spirit world, may the journey be smooth and peace " he said taking a rabbit and cutting open its throat pouring it's blood on the corpse of the Luna before setting fire to the funeral pyre. The same was done to the remaining two corpses and for little Vivian a rabbit was cremated in her steed.

Alpha Matt stood still trying to stay strong but his red eyes betrayed his calm as a tear escaped his eye. He held the hands of his son and niece as they cried their eyes out. The pack members who were familiar with the deceased also cried their eyes out as memories of the time they spent with them plays in their mind. They all remained till nothing but ashes was left, the Shaman moved forward and gathered the ashes of the deceased and placed them in jars. Matt was given a jar containing his mates ashes while Violet was given the ashes of both her parents in the same jar. Everyone departed to their abode after consoling the family of the deceased after the funeral ended.

Checking the time and seeing that it was just 2am in the morning Matt carried the two 10 year olds to his room settings them down on his bed, he looked into the eyes of the still crying kids and said " Kids, I know you're hurt and angry, I know how that feels because they're just as important to me as they are to you guys. I can't disappoint them by grieving and wallowing over their deaths, instead of directing your anger to your inability to save them, why not improve yourselves to becoming strong and protect those they care about, to protect the pack and avenge them by making sure their killers meet the same fate". He said trying to be strong as he tried to plant a seed of hope in their fragile little hearts, he wanted to give them a reason to live, he wanted them to be strong inorder to avoid the fate of his mate and Violet's parents.

"Alright kids, go to sleep." He said noticing the drowsiness in their eyes.

"Uncle Matt, can I really make my parents happy by becoming strong?" Violet asked clenching her fist as she gazed at him with fierce determination. "Yes my love, they will be extremely proud of you". He assured patting her head. "Dad, will mom be proud of me too?" Dan chimed in rubbing his eyes as he tries to stay awake. "She will" Matt replied caressing his cheek as he looks at face that bears a striking resemblance to his mate's.

"Go to bed guys" he urged turning to turn off the light on the stand before settling on the bed himself.

Somewhere in the woods a white owl was perched on a tree monitoring the movements of the pack. When it didn't notice any movement it chose to fly away for the information it gathered is enough.

Not far from where the white owl was perched another owl was silently perched on another tree, it's black feathers blending with the dark as it's red eyes stayed fixated at the Alpha's window.
