{Narrator's pov}
Before the body of the boy could hit the floor a hand caught him, supporting the already unconscious boy. Evan, Matt's beta carried the boy in his arms an aggrieved expression plastered on his face. The warriors who were meant to serve as reinforcement for the battle scattered in the garden searching for survivors and sorting the bodies of their fallen comrades. They also searched the bodies of the vampires for clues to make research on them or let them serve as evidence.
Evan was so disheartened by the scene before him, he greatly regrets not being able to make it to the Mansion on time. When Alpha Matt mind linked him it was just 7:35pm in the evening, he was just about rounding up his work when the Alpha requested for backup making him abandon his work to prioritise the lives of his leaders and friends. Evan rushed out of the pack office mind linking all the Warriors to gather at the training ground as they await his arrival. Transforming into his Wolf form he ran as fast as he could as he mind links the pack doctor and the pack police who works with humans to handle matters like this in order to avoid their existence being exposed.
On getting to the training ground all the Warriors were already present except for those protecting the boarder.
"Listen carefully guys" he said with authority voice booming loud and clear in vast land.
"The Alpha needs our help and this is an urgent situation, our Luna is in danger and there is need for reinforcement. We don't have much time, we are moving out for battle and this battle will determine the fate of our pack. So.. let's give it our all and protect our Luna" he ended the statement with an howl and the others followed suit.
Five Vans were dispatched on the road as they sped through the road rushing towards their destination. Everyone was anxious as they prayed to the moon goddess hoping she'd keep their leaders safe. In their world a pack without without a leader is a pack of rogues.
The journey that usually lasted 3hrs lasted just 45mins at their speed, they got to their destination around 9pm. On getting there they were met with a dreadful scene, pure massacre. All their comrades were mercilessly killed, some had their heads detached from their body. The pain they felt from loosing the people they trained with, lived with, joked with and laughed with was too much for many to bear.
"Spread out!" Evan mind linked them trying not to alart the enemies if there was any near. "Team A scout the area and make sure to look out for any potential threat. Team B stay with the medical team and support as much as needed. Team C come with me" Evan mind linked assigning all the teams to work as he led his team towards the entrance of the mansion. He spotted Dan as he ran into the mansion giving him hope to see someone alive, he followed behind him and his men increasing their speed as they also made it into the Mansion just in time to see the Alpha's son about to fall. Evan the fastest in the group and the closest to the little boy hurriedly went to support the already unconscious Dan. Seeing that the little boy was okay without any injuries he finally decided to scan his environment only to find a chaotic scene before him.
The group was taken aback by the scene before them as they were greeted by a bloody scene. Their Alpha was sitted in a pool of blood mourning the loss of his mate, his sister and his unborn child. This is the most vulnerable they've ever seen their Alpha, the most painful thing was that the kids had to see this scene. Little Violet had already cried till she fainted, tears still escaping her closed eyes.
"There is no sign of the enemies in the premises" Team A squad leader mind linked Evan after the environment was thoroughly surveyed. "Al..right, stay in position and stay at alart in case of any sudden attack" he said as his voice faltered a little. "Ray, take Dan and Violet to the medical team to get checked" he ordered his second in command giving the unconscious Dan to him as he moved toward his silently sobbing Alpha.
"Matt" he called out softly testing the waters. He knows his alpha too well, they've been best friends from a very young age and he knows how unpredictable his friend can be.
"Matt, I'm sorry" he said choking on his own saliva as tears started welling up in his already red eyeballs. Why won't he cry?The people he lost tonight are more than just friends, they're family.
" You don't have to be sorry, it wasn't your fault, no one knew this was going to happen" Matt sobbed trying so hard not to break down again.
"If anyone is to be sorry it's those damn vampires and I swear their gonna pay for this, I'll make sure of it" he said gnashing his teeth so hard it could break.
"Beta!" Sam a warrior directly under Evan called out to Evan as he descended the stairs. "We've checked all the rooms in the mansion and all the rooms have been identified except for one" he said as he stated his findings.
"Miss Vivian is nowhere to be found, there is no clue to determine if she is dead or alive. I have two speculations, it's either she escaped or she was captured " Sam stated as he gazed seriously at Evan.
The news about the possibility of his niece escaping increased Matt's hope a little. The fact that he has two kids from the people he cherished the most and the possibility that Vivian was still alive gave him hope. He finally had a reason not to give up. "Laura and Aurelia would definitely not want their kids to suffer" he muttered to himself.
Rising to his feet, he ordered his men to search deep into the wood surrounding the mansion in search of his niece. He carried both Laura and Aurelia's bodies as he exits the mansion, Evan carried the body of Violet's father as they decided to head to the pack. The survey team was left behind to search for Vivian while the other two teams accompanied the Alpha back to the pack.
Not far from the Mansion an owl was perched on a tree watching all the events that took place with its red large eyes.
