chapter 7:companionship!!!
After cleaning the blood from his face, Ethan was currently searching the apartment room for useful supplies.
The apartment belonged to a newlywed couple, as suggested by the photos on the wall and table.
Ethan and Joe had found some food in the fridge.
Most of the food had expired, but there still was some canned food and instant ramen.
Sadly, they didn't find any bottled water.
The current plan was to go to another apartment to look for water.
Ethan had also changed clothes to the clothes he found in the closet.
He was currently wearing a T-shirt that was covered by a leather jacket.
He also was wearing black cargo pants and a pair of white shoes with a logo of a company he didn't recognize.
All in all, he was dripped out.
Opening one of the drawers in the table, he found a first aid kit.
Opening the first aid kit, he could see some items were missing, but all in all, it still had a lot of bandages, some painkillers, wipes, and other items.
"This will be really useful", Saying that, Ethan put the first aid kit in the bag he was carrying.
"Ethan are you done?" Joe asked in a low voice.
Yes, replied Ethan.
"Great, let's get out of here," Joe said.
Giving a look to the woman's body on the bed, he went near it and gently covered the body with a blanket.
The woman's body was in awful shape, with half of her face missing and some parts of her skull visible.
One of her breasts was missing, and the other one was half-eaten.
Her stomach was torn open, and her guts were all over the bed.
It was a brutal site.
This scene had already made Ethan vomit twice, and looking at it again made him feel like vomiting again.
Going out of the bedroom, Ethan found Joe waiting for him.
"Did you find anything useful?" Joe asked.
Yep, a first aid kit, replied Ethan.
That will be useful, Joe said in a cheerful tone.
"Honestly, how can you be so cheerful in such a situation?" Ethan questioned.
"Well, stress causes hair fall, and I don't want to go bald so soon,"Joe said in a joking tone.
Smile at his joke, Ethan said," "You already are going bald, Theo."
Noooo! Yelled Joe in a dramatic fashion.
Joe's overly dramatic yell made Ethan chuckle.
Seeing Ethan chuckling, Joe smiled. Good to see you are opening up.
Continuing, Joe said we have been living together for some time now, but you were always too stiff around both Lena and me.
I don't know about your past or anything too much about you, in fact.
But from now on we will be working as a team, so trust us a bit more, will you?
Listening to Joe's words, Ethan couldn't help but look back at the interaction between him and Lena and Joe.
He really didn't like Lena that much, but Joe seemed like a nice person, and he was right; they would be working together from now on, so he should trust Joe a bit more.
As much as he hated to admit it, he couldn't do everything by himself; he was just a normal guy.
Looking at Joe's outstretched hand, he shook it.
"To our new companionship" Joe said.
Smiling, Ethan also said, " To our new companionship".
