Chapter 6:Birthday Boy
In a blink of an eye,I woke up back in my bedroom.I thought to myself,should I really trust whoever is writing this?
I mean I did not know them,they could be lying or trying to kill me.Or it could be Sosu.But I'm not certain that it is.
I closed the book and put the feather dripping ink in my pocket,thinking about what I should have said.
It was daytime now.I have always wondered why dreams feel so quick even though they were hours long. It was like..being in another dimension of some sort.The thought lingered to the back of my head.I then got up out of my bed and went to brush my teeth.
When I was younger,the dentists at the hospital always used to tell me to brush my teeth after I eat so I don't have to brush it again.
But if I still brush it after breakfast,I wouldn't have to do it before I go to sleep.
Something struck me in the chest,it was my birthday!
I normally would forget but today I remembered that it was my birthday.
This birthday was really special because I could finally be told by my Father how my mother died!
Rushing down the stairs,I bumped into someone.
"Sorry!"I shouted.The man replied with a disturbing voice.
"It was your Father…he did it…"The man was kibo,the suicidal homeless guy from earlier.What was he talking about?What did my Father do?Kibo then ran away.
"Wait!"I tried to run after him but Father stopped me right in my tracks.
"Where are you going, birthday boy?"He laughed as I frowned.
"There was a man saying something about,you did it.I wasn't certain what he was saying,do you know?"
Father looked at me shocked,as if he got shot by a bullet.
"That man does not know what he is talking about.Come outside,there are people here to honour your Mothers death."
I knew he was trying to change the subject,maybe he knew what happened to my Mother?I wasn't sure but I had to stick with my gut.The two of us went outside to see friends and family.
Maku,Aizakku,Yanagi,Debiddo and more people came.
I followed Father to greet everybody.Some people said happy birthday.Some people shedded tears because of the then we went onto the wooden floor,it was like those things in theatres where actors would perform,but without the red curtains.10 minutes went by and Father began to speak in a clear loud voice.
"Good morning everyone,we are here to mourn my beloved wife and my son's mother.She was a kind women,friendly and generally a good person.Today,is my son,Irai's birthday.He is 16 now.Ironically,we are here now even though it is his birthday.Because I would tell him how his Mother died."
I started to sweat as everyone stared at me.We had a 2 minute silence for my Mother.I never really got to know her,all I knew is that she died right after I was born.I would do anything to see her,even for 30 seconds.If only there was a way.
Shortly after the silence,everyone left.Father left me with Maku to get some cake for my birthday.
"Hello again,Irai right?
"Yeah that's my name.Maku?"
"Yep.You look like you're depressed."
"Well,to be honest,I'm kind of worried about something that happened last night."
"Why are you worried?"
"In my dream,I found The Secrets of the World.Someone wrote a message saying,free me and I will give you all the power I know.I do not know what to do."
"Sosu,he is talking to you in his dreams."
"You mean the person in the book?"
"Yeah him,do not trust him no matter what.."
"I knew it was him,I just wasn't sure."
"He will destroy Tokyo if he becomes blood lusted. We need to maintain his sanity.Just listen to me and do not let him out."
"Ok,I trust you to not trust him."Maku chuckled.It started to rain again.
"Well,let's go get shelter in that alleyway."
I followed Maku into the alleyway,which was dark and dense.Like the one that I saw the figure in earlier.After waiting for 15 minutes,Father didn't return.
"Should we try to find my Father?"
"Don't worry,he will come back soon.We just have to wait a little longer."
Maku hesitated.I decided to write the option 'no' like Maku had said about 15 minutes ago.You may be wondering,how did we know how much time passed by?
The answer is simple.Everywhere you go,there is a clock somewhere.There happened to be one on the left wall of the stage.30 more minutes went by with no sign of Father,that was when we had enough of waiting.
"We should find him,shouldn't we?"Maku and I ran towards the palace and kicked open the doors.
The hallways expanded as I went further.Maku was shouting something I couldn't hear properly.
"What?"Another muffled shout,"WHAT?"Another muffled shout,"WHAT?"
"SPLIT UP."
"OK."The two of us ran opposite directions,covering more ground.I took a right turn and Maku too a left turn.If I remember correctly,both of our ways lead into the main room.Yes.Yes they do.Now that I think about it,both hallways are identical so there really was no point in take this path.
I barged through the doors to see Maku beside me.He looked up in the air and saw horror as if he had been shot by a gun.
"WHAT ON EARTH?"Maku shouted.I looked to my right to see Sosu,it looked as if he was possessing my Father,
"FATHER."I shouted.His eyes were sunken into his skull.Except,instead of ordinary eyes,they were yellow.
Just bright yellow.His jaw looked cracked open as well as well as the rest of his limbs.
"IRAI,GET OUT OF HERE NOW,QUICK."Maku then turned around to see punching him.
"NO,I AM NOT RUNNING."Fear was not the emotion that had to be felt right now.I ran towards Sosu and grabbed him by his cloak,pulling him down from the air,crashing into the floor.
"OUCH,"He shouted,"I was getting to the information but you just ruined the good part."
Sosu swiftly got back up and choked me.Father got full control of his body and fell right to the ground.He stood back up and vigorously charged towards Sosu,punching him multiple times in the face.
"GET IRAI OUT OF HERE!"Father exclaimed.Maku nodded.He grabbed outside.
"I see,you have someone to care about."Kurisu ran toward Sosu,aiming for a punch,but Sosu grabbed his fist,cracking his knuckles.
"Of course I love my son,why wouldn't I love him?"
"Well,you don't lie to your loved ones.Right?"Kurisu stayed silent.He knew what he did.
But sometimes,we do bad things for good reasons.
The only problem,when was it the right time to tell Irai what had happened to his mother?
The thoughts distracted him.Sosu kicked Kurisu in the stomach,sending him flying a few metres away.
Sosu then used his telekinesis to grab Kurisu tightly and slam him repeatedly into the floor.
"You don't live up to the legend.The hero.TheSaviour."
Sosu then pulled Kurisu towards him.He shoved his elbow in his stomach,causing Kurisu to vomit blood.It trickled down his clothes as Sosu became disgusted.
"You are not as strong as you say you are,"Kurisu suddenly broke free from the force,
"Thanks to the homeless guy,I'm free once again!"He ran towards Sosu.He kicked him in the face,then uppercutting his chin.
Sosu went flying back into one of the walls,which leads to other rooms.
Kurisu chased after him in the dusty fog.
Finally,he reached the room Sosu crashed into.But Sosu was nowhere to be seen.Kurisu looked around the whole room,he then looked up to see Sosu jumping down on him.
Kurisu thudded to the floor.
"You can't fool me!"The two jumped up as Kurisu punched Sosu.Sosu then pushed Kurisu,using his telekinesis technique to pull Kurisu towards him.
"I deserve to be free.Not some trapped prisoner of an old man who doesn't know how to fight."Sosu grabbed Kurisu by the neck and dragged him across the floor,he then bashed his head and held Kurisu mid air.
"What…type…of wretched sorcery is this?"Kurisu gasped for air.
"LIGHT ENERGY!"A yellow flow of energy came from Sosu's fist,it hit Kurisu's head,sending him flying back to where the two started fighting in the first place.
"You don't know when to give up,do you?"Sosu started walking slowly to Kurisu.Kurisu was so furious,he locked in.Kurisu got back up on his two feet.
"I don't because I won't."
He bolted towards Sosu,punching him multiple times with a flow of energy coming from his fists.
These punches paralysed Sosu for a few seconds.He then grabbed Kurisu by the arm,twisting it so it could burn.
"You foolish…ENTITY!"Kurisu grunted as he tried to make Sosu let go of his arm,but it did not work.Sosu began to spin around,making his arm stretch.
Kurisu travelled around the room at swift speed,he started to feel dizzier and dizzier the longer he was spun around.
"HAHAHA."Sosu laughed.While still being attached to his arm,Sosu threw Kurisu down to the ground.He bashed into the crystal floor with more bruises being added to his body.
"WELL,I DONT HAVE ALL DAY TO BE FIGHTING YOU,I MUST LIVE,BE FREE FOR A WHILE!"Sosu then turned around and stretched his arms into a cannon-like position and launched himself out into Tokyo.
"NO,NO NO NO,"Kurisu lifted himself up to hear the laughter of Sosu fading away.
"I must warn them…all of them,I must warn them."
Kurisu then rushed to the stairs.He panted through each floor.
Finally,he got to the big bell of the building.Kurisu pulled the rope as the bell rang loudly.
BANG.BANG.BANG.
He then turned to his left and pulled down a flag,giving a warning to the palace to get outside.He had been trained to do this ever since before the war.
If Sosu escaped,Kurisu had to send people after him.People started running out of the building,gathering their horses to race into the depths of Japan.
Kurisu ran back downstairs to get his own horse.
Meanwhile,Maku and Irai were far from home,they did not know where they were going,at all.
Fog began to emerge from the atmosphere,the two were now entering the mystical forest on their horses.
