Chapter 9:Why Did You Do It?
I looked at Father in disbelief.There was no way he killed Mother.It was impossible,I thought he was lying.
"Your…not being serious…right?You must be joking."I questioned Father.
He looked worried,a bit too worried.I knew this because of the look on his face and the fact he had sweat running down his face.
"No,this isn't something I would joke about Irai.You're the first and last person I will talk to about this."
"Tell me the truth and I want the truth only.Who killed Mother?"
"I am telling you the truth Irai,it was me.I was the one who killed her."
We both stood in silence,both looking worried.All sounds began to fade.The only thing I could hear was my own heart beat,it was increasing faster and faster.I wanted to believe Father but I did not want to at the same time.
"Why?.....WHY WOULD YOU DO IT?"
"She was a Navajo,ok?A Navajo.I had to kill her before she harmed any people. I know you only have two or three memories of her but I murdered my wife and your Mother for a good reason."
"Wait…..does that make me a…..Navajo?"
"Although there are no symptoms of you being a Navajo,it is possible but I doubt you are."
"Where did you hide her body?"
"I burned it,to get rid of the evidence."
"YOU'RE REFERRING TO YOUR WIFE AND MY MOTHER AS…EVIDENCE?"
"I didn't know how to word it!"
"Why did you have to kill her?I mean…couldn't Sosu transform her into a human with a spell?"
"It was not that simple,Sosu cannot do everything in the world."
"Why isn't it that simple?"
"You are born who you are.There is no changing what species or gender you are.If you are born a boy,you cannot change into a female.If you are born Navajo,you cannot turn into a human.That is just how the world works Irai."
"I….I understand you tried to help….."
"Yes,I am sorry Irai,I am sorry I had to tell you this…."
"It's alright Father…"
"I…I had to do what I had to do.I killed one person to save the whole world.Resulting to be your Mother…"
"What was she like?"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean,what was she like as a wife,taking care of me?"
"Well,it was quite a long time ago but..she was a sweet caring Mother and wife.She cared for us equally and she would clean the house while I was away.She would set the dinner table and prepare scrumptious meals such as;Miso soup,grilled fish,rice,pickles,ramen and more."
"That sounds amazing!"
"Yes,although one night she told me that…she was a Navajo."
"Oh…was that devastating to be announced?"
"Yes…very much so."
"I am sorry…"
"It's not your fault Irai."
"I know I just wish she could be here,with us."
"Yes…"The two of us stood in silence as the sun rose up from the horizon.
"Your Mother and I agreed to each other we would kill her,I took my sword and cut her neck open as blood gushed out.It was an enchanted sword so it was effective.I then burned her body and walked away as if nothing had happened that day."
"That's horrible."
"I am sorry but I had to kill her,we had no choice."
Irai looked down and started to cry.Kurisu's face filled with guilt.
"I am sorry,my son.Forgive me,please."
"Yes Father,I forgive you.But please can we not talk about this matter again?"
"We shall not."Silence came again.Some hay flew across the desert.
The horses began to neigh as they moved around quickly.
"WOAH,CALM DOWN ....CALM DOWN NOW."Kurisu whipped his horse on the back.A red rash appeared on it's back and it whined quietly.
"You know,"looked at Kurisu,thinking about what he was going to say.
"There was this thing in The Secrets of The World."
"What was this...thing?"Kurisu looked confused,he turned his whole body to me to signal he was paying attention.
"A message,from Sosu.He said that he would give me all the power he knew if I let him go from the prison,is what he called the book.I circled the No option but he escaped anyways."
"Sorcerers are very disobedient creatures.They hardly listen,but it is rare to find one to obey its master.And it is also rare for one to escape on its own. It must have gotten bored again."
"Yes…I see..wait..Sosu is an it? "
"Those creatures don't have genders.I just refer to them as a he or she based off their presence to make it easier."
"I'll still be calling Sosu a he."
"Follow me,we are going to train."The two of us whipped our horses and off they ran into the distance.
Meanwhile at one of Tokyo's police stations,the Red bandit was in his isolated cell.
There was revolting rust scrapped off the bars.Inside the cell,the bed smelt of mutiny due to the rats in the room,which came out of the clogged toilet.
There were clothes all around the room,there's old food,flies around the room and the place is just a mess.Red heard footsteps approaching his cell.They sounded like thick leather boots.
A figure emerged from the shadows,it was a prison guard.
He was wearing a suit with a black tie,followed by golden buttons placed on his chest.He had a collar with yellowish stripes.
The guard bent down and slid some food towards Red.He got back up slowly,looking at Red menacingly.
"Enjoy food for once in your life."
"It tastes rubbish anyways."Red muttered to himself.
He glanced at the food and kicked it back to the guard.
"You will starve if you do not eat."
"Then I shall starve,if I cannot fall off a roof,then I starve."
"Suicide is not the best choice,you have a roof over your head,food-"
"TERRIBLE..food."
"People to talk to."
"I don't like them.They looked messed up."The guard sighed.He cleared his throat,then he spoke.
"Eat up,you have to dig up cow dung in 30 minutes."He stood up and walked away without looking back.Red puffed.
"I did not expect prison life to be like this,I was hoping for something….better than being homeless."
"We can help with that."A voice echoed around the other side of the room,it was another prisoner.
"Who are you?"
"I am Ryoshi and 20 other men of mine can help."
"I am Red."
"Nice to meet you."
"How shall you help?"The two began discussing how they would break out.At lunch,they had a plan.
"When the clock rings,the wrestling game comes,everyone is distracted while we can escape at that time.The others will get a guard's key to get some guns while I will get a rope and magnet."
"Ok,got it."
"ATTENTION EVERYBODY,TODAY IS A SPECIAL DAY FOR SUSHI."One of the lunch ladies shouted.They were given sushi a few seconds after that.
"You know,the sushi they serve is octopus?"
"They give us terrible food because of the crimes we committed."
"Good point."Red picked up the sushi and threw it in his mouth.
Ryoshi did the same.2 hours pasted,Red and Ryoshi went to go get the others for the grand escape.
In just 15 minutes,they would escape the prison.As everybody was walking outside,Red could see there were a lot of people preparing for the game,at least a dozen.10 minutes went by,a whole crowd had formed around.
"Now we go,follow me."Ryoshi led everyone to his cell.There was a window inside of it.
"Give me the rope."One of the men gave to rope to Ryoshi.
He punched the window as glass shattered all over the place.Some went into people's skin,which led to bleeding.But they were just small cuts.
He put a magnet on the window and put a rope through the hole of it.
He then threw the rope down the wall.One by one,each man climbed down the rope.After some time,all the men had gotten down.They bolted towards the fence and climbed over it.
"YES,WE ARE FINALLY FREE."Red shouted in joy.
"Keep your voice down,someone might hear us!"
"Yes,sorry."They all wandered off into the depths of Tokyo.
