Chapter 8:The Tyrannical Truth
Kurisu was on his horse as it galloped in the desert.Suddenly,a silhouette appeared in the distance.
He whipped his horse on the back to make it go faster.Finally he could get a close look at the figure.It was his son,Irai.
"What on earth are you doing out here in the desert?"Questioned Kurisu.
"I quit."Irai whispered.
"What did you… just say?"
"I said ...I quit."
The two stared at each other for a minute,Irai kept his head down as Kurisu just widened his eyes,staying frozen.
"Why?"Kurisu looked worried,he had thought something hurt his son to cause him to have such disbelief.
"I have loads of pressure and not to mention,I've nearly died multiple times!I am not having a wife,or kids.I am not being a hero,it affects my life,mentally and physically."
"Irai,you cannot.You simply cannot."
"Why not?What will happen if…if someone steals the Moonstone?If I die by then,it will not be my problem."
"Please Irai,there are far worse things than death."
"Please….please Father,let me quit.Choose one of your men to be a protector."
"They are all dead,at least the ones who fight…..all I have is Maku."
"How did they die?"
"Sosu….he is going to come back…he killed my men.I trapped him in the book and I am certain someone shall free him again.We need to hide the book somewhere else."
"Can you not kill him?"
"As I said earlier,he is a demon sorcerer.I cannot kill him…he is too advanced for my current level.But what we can do is lock him up back into the book,with some additional changes."
"How shall we do that?"
"We lure him into the book and chain it."
"Fine ...I won't give up.I can't!"
Kurisu admired his determination.But..that admiration faded.
"I need to tell you something Irai."
"What is it Father?"
Kurisu stood silent for a few seconds,he then looked at me carefully.
"Your Mother,she is dead."
"Yes I know that."
"I know who killed her."
"Who?"
The mist surrounded the two like a circle.The wind whistled as birds flew above the clouds in the air.Irai looked at Kurisu,waiting for him to say what he was going to say.But his patience ran out very quickly.
"Well…."
"Well?Who was it, Father?"
"It was me."
In the distant stretch of water,Rida's heart was pumping and pumping.His arms went up and down rapidly,splashing the water.His legs were doing the same.
Rida had been swimming for 4 hours now.A building's shadow started to appear.
"Yes….I am close,I am here."Rida kept on swimming effortlessly.The building became clearer and clearer every single second.
Finally,Rida got a good look at the building,he started to notice more had appeared.Rida had finally got into Japan,he could finally achieve the goal his son could not accomplish.
30 minutes went by,Rida saw some land,sand of some sort.
There were rocks of all kinds by the side,with different colours,shapes,sizes.But you know the building he saw earlier?
That was a guard tower.You see,every country has guard towers on the edge of the country,so no bad people can get in.
"Oh,my luck is surely fading away into the shadows of bad luck."He muttered.
One of the guards spotted Rida swimming in the sea.
"Is that a fish?"He couldn't see very well due to the fact the water was very shallow.Next to him was his partner,Nemui.He was fast asleep in a wooden chair.
"Am I talking to myself?WAKE UP NEMUI."He jumped right out of his chair in a flash.Nemui's eyes widened due to the fact that he had just woken up from his sleep.
"Sorry Beru,I just fell asleep because I lacked sleep for the past week."
"Look,I know you have had a messed up sleep schedule but this night,is the final night of your shift,you can go back to your wife and your posh house in just 6 more hours,please and I mean it,please stay awake this time.I do not want to have to deal with the whole shift again,that happened yesterday and the day before with my other two partners before you came back."
"Sorry,sorry.I will try to stay awake."
"You will."
"I will try."
"Alright then."
"So,what were you saying again?About a fish or an animal."
"Oh yes,I saw a strange creature that looked like a fish in the sea."
"Show me."
Beru pointed downwards to the sea where the supposed creature was.But nothing was there,it was almost as if it didn't happen.
"What am I exactly looking at?The only thing I can see is water."
"It was just there.I…I swear it,it was there!"
"I will look in the opposite direction of you,tell me when you see that fish again."
Nemui turned around as Beru nodded.Rida then appeared behind Nemui.
"Shhh."Rida put his index finger on his mouth slowly as he whispered.Nemui did not move a muscle.
Rapidly,Rida grabbed Nemui by the neck and threw him off the tower.
"AHHHHHHHH."Neumi screamed in terror.The last thing he could see was Rida staring at him from the tower,just before his death.
A thud was made along with a splash into the ocean,it echoed.Beru turned around to see Rida standing there,watching his partner die.
Beru grabbed his musket without hesitation and pulled the trigger.The bullet flew at insane speed,hitting Rida's head,but the bullet bounced right off him.Instead of going into Beru's head,it landed into his foot.
"OH,YOU SICK PSYCHOPATH-"Rida turned around,grabbed Beru by the leg and snapped it in half.
"SOMEBODY,SOMEBODY HELP ME,PLEASE HELP."He tried to kick Rida with the other leg but it didn't work.In result,Rida snapped the other one too.
"OH GOD."Beru shot at Rida multiple times but the bullets kept on bouncing off.He then grabbed the gun and threw it off the tower.
"NO,I WILL NOT DIE LIKE THIS."
"Here is a tip to not die."Rida spoke in a dark sinister voice.
He grabbed Beru by the neck and strangled him,up to the point where his whole face turned plasma purple.
"Carry a knife or sword on you at all times,better for closer encounters."Rida pulled out a knife from his back pocket.It was razor sharp and the reflection of Beru was on it.
"WAIT,WAIT WAIT….PLEASE DO NOT KILL ME.I HAVE A WIFE,FRIENDS AND A LIFE LIKE YOU."
"I do not have a wife,or any friends."
"I KNOW WHO YOU ARE,THE LAST STANDING KITSUNE.YOUR SON….HE WAS MURDERED BY A GENSHI.I LOST MY FATHER AT A YOUNG AGE."
"You've seen my face,no use in letting you live,is there?"
"WAIT PLEASE-"
Rida stabbed the knife right in the middle of Beru's face,making a squishing noise.
Blood came out of his face as Rida drove the knife deeper and deeper into his flesh,until it came out of the other side of his head.
Beru's hands loosened,all of his body did.Rida grunted as he pulled the knife out of Beru's head,like pulling a quiver of a hedgehog.
He threw the knife onto the ground and picked up Beru's body,throwing it off the tower into the ocean.Rida then looked down to his right to see two guards on there horses,galloping into the distance as they glanced back and forth at him.
"They must have seen me kill those men,I need to venture further into Japan."
Rida jumped off the tower,splashing into the water.It burned for a second but he pulled himself together and got out of the water onto land full of sand.
Rida did not know how far it would go,but he knew if the guards went that way,he would have to go that way too,without being recognized,Rida knew he needed a disguise.
Ever since Rida had left his home,his people….his son,he had been on a quest to kill Kurisu and take the power he was meant to have.Rida walked into the distance as sunrise began to show.
All of these adventures,all of this fighting,it was for his son.Now he can unlock awakening,he just needs more rage,a little bit more and he can be a worthy opponent to Kurisu.
"This is the moment that my goal will be accomplished,everything I wanted,it's right here.All I have to do is run towards it and it will be mine."
Rida smiled under his mask,he began to softly cry but wiped his tears as soon as they rolled down his face.
