Chapter 4 - Chapter 2: Summoned (part 1)

//Notification

The World Deity of Vitalium possesses the individual name "Chrom"//

Right after, he felt overwhelmed by a fierce storm of information about this world. Uriel's expression began to change and seemed pained; however, it wasn't physical pain — it was something far beyond that, something he could feel deep within his very being, and he fell completely unconscious.

//Warning

The analysis and comprehension of the world principles that were unlocked by the remnants of the blessing of the individual Storm Gorilla Groll "Connection" will begin.

Since the blessing cannot be absorbed, the system will proceed to download the rescued information from the individual Storm Gorilla Groll, which was shared through this blessing.//

Suddenly, he stopped seeing the alerts... everything was dark. He didn't know how much time had passed since the analysis began. He was unconscious, yet he could think clearly, as if he were inside his own mind. He was able to understand many things about this world, even grasping the rules that "Chrom", the God of this world, had established. Chrom is known as one of the Gods of the Beginning and individually as the God of Color — and by his conduct, it's very clear why he's known this way.

"Apparently, in this world there are 3 'scales', named so by Chrom, referring to the three primary colors. Species that have an average of 'D' or lower belong to the blue scale and are punished... Chrom takes away their color. This makes those species the target of disdainful treatment. Even if someone from them is caught, they are turned into slaves — it's truly horrible. Currently, there are about 8 colorless species.

The yellow scale is for species classified as C and B. They are not penalized, but like those in the blue scale, they can be mistreated by those in the next scale. There are currently 6 species in this scale.

The last one is the red scale, for species with a classification of A or higher. They are Chrom's favorites and the only ones who receive his blessing. They are the most prideful and are very similar to Chrom in their judgment. There are currently 8 species.

I must say this only applies to species with a high level of consciousness or intelligence. However, that makes it even more unfair — a Swordfish has color, and a human doesn't. It's completely unreasonable... it's as if on Earth a snail had rights and a human didn't.

For now, I only know one of the 8 species that the Deity Chrom has punished... Humans. I don't have information about the other species; I suppose it's partly because I haven't encountered them yet.

My species... the Cherubims, are a yellow-scale species with an average of 'B'.

However, my individual level is 'S'. That's partly due to the intervention of my guardian. This led me to wonder how high an individual's level can go compared to their species classification.

I believe that since Cherubims are not one of his favorite-scale species, that's why he had no mercy when he made those beasts massacre my brothers. That damn God is so..."

The analysis and comprehension of the world principles have concluded; you now possess advanced knowledge of Vitalium.//

You are awakening...//

—So I really woke up, huh? It's amazing that even that has to be told to me by the alert system.

Uriel woke up in a small bed. A little girl who had been sitting nearby ran off as soon as she saw him awaken. Uriel assumed she had gone to call someone. He didn't have his horn at hand, so he tried to organize himself a bit, preparing to face any possible attack — although he reasoned that if they had wanted to harm him, they would have done it while he was unconscious.

"So, you're finally awake."

Said one of the four girls from before as she entered through the door with the other three and two more people — an old man and a young man.

"How long was I unconscious?"

Taking a step forward, the old man replied in a gentle voice.

"About three hours, so don't worry, not much time has passed."

—I suppose I still have some time. Even so... it saddens me that I wanted to reach a civilized place, and now I'll have to flee without even taking a good look. I must be sensible, I have to do it — not just for my own sake, but for the sake of these people. One of the last alerts was that the god had sent other beings to look for me.

"I understand, I think I should leave..."

"Hey, but before you said you wanted to reach the town, and now you're just leaving like that? Did that gorilla hit your head too hard?"

The old man decided to interrupt the conversation:

"Right... speaking of the Gorilla... we want to thank you for defeating it and especially for saving these young ladies. We owe you a great debt. Also, the body of the Storm Gorilla was sold to a merchant to make use of its parts. It wasn't difficult to sell, due to its rarity... Take this bag — this is the amount for which the body was sold. Keep it safe, it's a lot of money, around 5000 gold. It was an incredible being, so its parts were of very high quality."

—I feel somewhat guilty accepting their gratitude for saving the girls, knowing that, in part, it was me who attracted the Storm Gorilla...

"Thank you very much, sir. By the way, do you know a place where I can buy some clothes?"

"A clothing store, huh... if you'd like, I can take you there since I know the town well."

The girl seemed a bit nervous; it was noticeable in her gestures. Uriel noticed this.

"Hey... I'm sorry, for everything that happened before. I scared you, and on top of that, I put all of you in danger. Please forgive me."

"That... no, it's not your fault. You... you saved us. You're our hero. Besides, it wasn't your fault — the gorilla appeared out of nowhere. If we had been alone... I don't even want to imagine what could've happened to us. So please don't apologize. We should be the ones apologizing for how we treated you. It's just that... you have color, and we thought you wanted to hurt us."

"I understand... then, please, let's get along from now on."
